An interesting read. However, it's actually a mere footnote. Eventually, there will be a world economy with a world currency and China will lose it's short lived "prestige" of having the dominant currency and economic might, just like the United States.![]()
I think it is ripe for america to be at an end as anywhere else. To me a definition of that is that on a single basis throughout the world it seems the heart is puffed up enough to say "nothing can befall me", thats not just America, but America gets focus because we are either in it or near it and it is the big honcho of the world presently, but to focus distinctly on America I say is likened to a false witness, the whole world is under this illusion.
Grace to you, peace by God and the Lord.
I'd suggest you spend some serious time amongst Americans. I am not an American, but I've lived here for about 10 years. In my opinion, there's few people as self depricating as Americans. They have a cultural imperitive to hate themselves. Americans, on average, are of the opinion that they are (i) one of the worst countries in the world and (ii) that everything they do both on a foriegn stage and domestically is backwards.
When I first moved here, I used to tell a joke: "What does a Canadian say when you stomp on his foot?" Answer: "Sorry".
I've quickly come to realize that the joke is far FAR more appropriate in an American context, than a Canadian one.
I dont know what this is coming from, pride of country?
I didnt elevate America at all or compare it to anything, i stated it is viewed that way because it is the honcho and most of us are either in it or close to it that talk about it, but the whole world is actually puffed up in the same manner.
Thats exactly what i said, so your return reply i am uncertian of the point.
If you wish to elaborate, please, i am confused on how you got that meaning.
Grace to you, peace in God and the Lord.
Yup, just look at the empty Wal-Mart shelves every time there's mention that might weather might be coming.
Gotta stock up now! It's the end of the world! Everyone in the bunkers!
Or the fact that the guy selling a concoction to procect preople's thyroids from radioactivity is making a mint right now IN THE US even though the nuclear reactors that are leaking are halfway around the world IN JAPAN. IDK if people don't know where Japan is or maybe it's gotten knocked loose and is floating around the Pacific and coming our way, who knows?
Paranoia. Gotta love it.
Even so, come Lord Jesus!
Sadly, I am afraid that the part I bolded is at least a part of the problem. For the rest, many people hear the word "nuclear" and think they're going to grow an extra arm out of their head that very minute, no matter what context the word is used in. That's why even though MRI's (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) is the exact same thing as chemists use, they changed the name from the analytical tool used by chemists, which is NMR (nuclear magnetic resonance imaging), because the public reacted so badly to it having the word nuclear in it. Unfortunately it would seem most people aren't smart enough to realize that nuclear in this sense is referring to the nucleus of an atom, not radioactivity, nor are they calm and controlled enough to find out in what it is being used even if they don't understand the science behind it.
Do yourself a favor and watch these. And before anyone writes Celete off as a nut job, please examine his track record - for the past 20 years and more he's had an uncanny knack for being extremely accurate in his geo-political/economic predictions.
First take a look at what he said in 2007 just after Morgan Stanley, Fannie Mae and the rest of the gang were all given AAA ratings. Look at what he said about hosing, petroleum, sub-prime lending. All of it.

Were viewing it 2 completely different ways, your talking about the reaction of natural disasters and calamity, im talking about the financial/political prowess.
Even If the question was, do you think the U.S could be destroyed soon, the answer from most would be. No. Same goes for the mass of the world.
For what your speaking of, i think people try to rely on themselves too much, im not saying it isnt wise to be ready, but I do think there is a going too far point where we tend to put Him aside and take control ourselves. Now for those who dont believe in Him, thats not an issue, how could it be?
I'm talking about both, and much more than that. Americans are culturally mandated to be ashamed of being American in almost every facet of life.
The context of this thread isn't about relying on God. The context of this thread is "news" that "the American era is over". The thread does not pose a question, but rather presents an opinion that America is somehow diminished by having an economy marginally smaller than a country time times its size (assuming stricly linear progression of current trends).
My position is that this news does not represent an "end" to America, but it does dovetail nicely into their culture of defeat and self-hatred.
Breaks my heart.
I guess too many folks believe that the size of a country's economy is what makes that country either powerful or great or that an "age" is over...
