The minstrel boy to the war is gone,
In the ranks of death ye will find him;
His father's sword he hath girded on,
And his wild harp slung behind him;
"Land of Song!" said the warrior bard,
"Tho' all the world betray thee,
One sword, at least, thy rights shall guard,
One faithful harp shall praise thee!

I don't think I understand... all presidents have speechwriters, all of them. Multiple people working on all their prepared remarks. Of course he had speechwriters, and also worked on it himself, as is his wont..Its very noticeable when someone else writes your script, especially when it goes contrary to everything else that you previously 'preached' during pre-election
They are largely the same people who have written for him for some time though, so I don't know why it'd sound different, though I don't think it did. I also don't really know what he'd need to be sincere about?
Update from the news - Bin Laden has reportedly already been buried at sea. That's kind of brilliant.

Congratulations America.
No problem:
While a bit difficult to puzzle out, I believe this is saying that Obama deliberately held back news of bin Laden's death until a moment calculated to help him get re-elected. This actually is cynicism, of a particularly appalling kind, and as I mentioned is supported by: nothing at all. Will the news raise his approval rating? Sure, probably (as it probably should). Does that mean he purposely used the news to raise his approval rating? Of course it doesn't. Someone's going to have to make an actual argument for that kind of claim, and not merely point out that people like it when U.S. Presidents successfully do things.Originally Posted by Diggindeeper

Although I'm certain that there are people who do believe that, because it's impossible to make up something so ridiculous that no one actually thinks it. I'd only be half-surprised if Glenn Beck came out with that tomorrow.)

Why all the joy at Osama's death? The ideology doesn't die with one man any more than America would die when Barack Obama breathes his last.

God answers knee mail.
I'm glad it's not just me.
I was certainly no fan of Osama! He's done a lot of evil, and he had to be caught. I'm hoping we're all safer now that he's dead. However I do find it weird when people are happy about someone’s death. Seeing people celebrating in the streets over his death reminds me of images of Muslims celebrating in the streets after 9/11 and after the deaths of westerners. Is it that different?
Sure, he did a lot of evil, and is responsible for the deaths of a lot of innocent people. But does God love Osama despite his evil acts? How does God feel about his death? All sinners are equal in the eyes of God, are they not? So in God’s eyes, is Osama not equal to us?
There is such dissonance within me. He led many others astray, set in motion great evil, and was a focal point for hostility and violence. I feel relief that a step has been taken to defeat those who would destroy my earthly country and my faith.
And yet... and yet...Christ Jesus our Lord bled and died that Osama might have eternal life. It horrifies me that the evil that is in this world and the sin-nature bin Laden inherited kept him in darkness. And he may spend ETERNITY in hell...
It makes me physically sick to see people rejoicing at a death--the pictures look like the hysterical mobs shouting "death to America." This speaks (or should speak) volumes to us.
Would Jesus be celebrating this death? Or would he weep? And would not his tears be equally for bin Laden and for those rejoicing--who are themselves still so bound to their sin-nature that they cannot yet love their enemies even while working to stop their violent acts.
Lord, give me tears for the lost souls of al Qaida. There but for the grace of God and the fortune of my place of birth, there, even there, go I.

What I find intriguing in the reports is that the US "'buried' Osama Bin Laden at sea, according to Islamic rules and traditions."
I'm not doubting Bin Laden's death per se, for I take the testimony of the President at face value --- but so far the media has not shown the world his body, as the media usually does, so it's curious.
And to be buried so quickly into the water, so as now there is no way to retrieve the body as a earthen grave has a capability of doing - is also a potential to more mystery and perhaps, future intrigue? Don't know yet?
So folks, keep reading your bible, keep asking yourself questions about what fits and what doesn't, and always be ready for our Lord's return.

When I first heard this news I said a prayer to God asking him to have mercy on the man.
But to those who have forgotten the war on terrorism is still ongoing. He was a large part of that war and has been removed. This is a victory for us. Yes the battles will still go on but I don't see anything wrong with people having the feeling of "Finally" or "We might see the end of this someday."
Should American's be dancing in the street over it?
I didn't and won't.
But I still remember Muslims all over the world dancing in the streets on 9/11 so I can understand why others are doing it and throwing a little bit of their own medicine back into their faces. I don't personally think that we should sink down to their level but I do understand.
This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.

Vengence belongs to the Lord. Osama's death can hardly be called justice in the legal sense. The man's soul is in hell today and his body has been cast into the sea.
I'm not going to miss Osama but I find little cause to rejoice at his death. While his death was likely needful I doubt it will produce any real peace.
For the cause of Christ

Will this mean a fresh barrage from the 9/11 "Truth"ers?
