Florida passes "Pants on the Ground" bill.

No more "pants on the ground" in Florida schools.

...The bill penalizes students caught offending the dress code with a call to their parent, with the most stringent punishment being removal from extracurricular activities and in-school suspension.

“It’s been a long road,” Siplin said Wednesday, as it appeared likely his bill would finally pass the Legislature. Siplin, D-Orlando, said he’s passionate about the issue because he feels too many young people are being bypassed for jobs because they dress inappropriately.....

LOL. My kids have been telling me about this for a while. Talk about a new "Just say no to crack" campaign.

Bout time, honestly I can't comprehend how some parents condone pants dragging
If Satan can keep us busy swinging our swords at one another, there is no hope of a united attack on the kingdom of darkness. KJV, NIV, ESV or ABCDEFG; there is no time to bicker over such things. We'll devour each other if allowed to continue. We should grab the marching orders written in the way we best understand and get to work.

It should be illegal at shopping malls too! I've felt like walking up to them and pulling their stupid pants up myself!
    My favorite scripture: Malachi 3:16

"Then they that feared the LORD spake often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name!" (Every time we speak of the Lord, or even THINK of him--its written down in a book of remembrance!)

I guess Bret Favre will have to find a new favorite song....hopefully.

I have not been a huge fan of the song for what it implies.....glad to see some sanity edging into the world...

Well now I've wanted to do the opposite and pull their pants down.

I have felt the same way.

It is sad that this would have to be addressed by a bill. The government can make a law and make the children pull up their pants, but sadly can not give them the sense of dignity that would make them not want to wear their pants like this.

I wish there were a cure for the evils of our society that could come in the form of a rule....

    > Moreso, I am thankful that the Cure has already come... I wish that these children would know Him.

Ok I know it gets annoying, and sometimes gross but is it really our place to judge what people wear.

I think it would depend on the motive.

If I see a brother with his pants down, he is sending a message to others that he lacks self respect. If I care about him, I would not want him to
send this message or more imporantly I would not want him to see himself this way.

If I think I can correct him simply because that is not my preference... and take it upon myself with a wrong motive the effect will be temporary (at best) and would even drive him from the message I want to share (Christ) at worst.

If my motive is love then I am likely to be right... if my motive is self... then not so much.

    Make sense?

Well, my motive might be self. I am offended at looking around and seeing half of someones rear end staring me in the face. I'm thinking to myself, "If I was your mama, you wouldn't be wearing pants so big around they hang down around your knees. Reminds me of a toddler whose diaper has fallen down!

Maybe these are just really B I G BABIES???

Hunter, its not that I am judging. I am actually offended that anyone has the audacity to walk around in front of ladies that way. Amos is right. They have no self-respect and none for others either. There is such a thing as decency and some just don't want to be decent any more.

Well, you know, I was at the sporting goods store a while back and the guy at the gun counter had his pants hanging low giving everyone the vertical smile. Now I'm like the next person and always appreciate a genuine smile from someone, but I want them looking at me when they do so.

So, it wasn't the clothes the guy was wearing that I was judging.

Being in high school, I kinda understand why they do it, it's basically where you come from and your heritage, it's not that they don't have any respect but just their style, I don't know why they made their style it just is. Although I don't understand how it is be considered disrespect, it would help if you could explain that more.

It's not that they don't have any respect, in fact I don't really understand how it's considered disrespect, if you could explain that more I be most appreciative. But it's all about what they feel they look best in, I mean dont you wanna look your best, so do they, it's just their best is not your style.

Well, to me...showing part of what we call the 'butt' is not fashionable. What in the world looks 'best' about that?

And if its not that part showing, its the dirty underwear. Why would anything like that be 'fashionable'?

But I'll bite...what if your mama or your daddy started wearing THEIR pants that way? Would that make it more of a 'fashion' statement? Would you want your dad or your mom going around like that?

I don't see it as a fashion statement. I see it as 'Ain't nobody gonna tell ME what to wear or what I have to cover up.' SO there! And they moon us........

Re: Florida passes "Pants on the Ground" bill.

I'll try to explain my understanding, Hunter.

First, the "style" comes from prisons. No belts, no shoe laces, etc. It's a way of announcing that you're tough enough to make it in prison. That's not exactly something most of us would want to think about, let alone brag about.

Second - it IS about respect. Respect for not just others but oneself as well.

Do you WANT to look at someone's keister? Do you want someone looking at YOUR keister? Please, don't force me into looking at that thing. Respect me enough to not show me your keister cause I gotta say, it isn't all that pretty no matter what you may think :-)
