bibleforums.org connection problem

Since 2 days I can't access bibleforums.org any longer. After some time I get a time-out message:

Oops! Internet Explorer could not connect to bibleforums.org
Suggestions:

Try reloading the page

I have reset my modem, router, cleared history and cookies in IE8 all to no avail. Same result with another browser such as Firefox. I checked my system for malware, spyware, virus. All clean. I have tried the laptop of my wife, same time-out.

I currently have access via a proxy server (surf-proxy.de) so I can mention the arisen problem here and ask if maybe there is a solution.

I have also mailed my provider if they perhaps have blacklisted bibleforums.org either by accident or for a reason and to give me a clue how to fix the problem. I am eagerly awaiting their reply. This is so odd.

Surfing by proxy (as I in the meatime found out) is not working flawlessly using it for the goal of participation in a forum like this. "Reply with Quote" hangs, Bible Chat (and other sub-fora) may return a blank page. It all seems to depend on the quality of the proxy-server software.

Has anyone experienced such odd behaviour before ?

You bet!

Thing is that external devices like my Boxee or devices like the Ipad, Androids and whatever comes next have a great future and are suitable for forum use. If these devices use (or are going to use) cURL for internet access this problem is going to repeat itself big time.
