What is your opinion on the above statement?

In Christ,

“To preserve the government we must also preserve morals. Morality rests on religion; if you destroy the foundation, the superstructure must fall. When the public mind becomes vitiated and corrupt, laws are a nullity and constitutions are waste paper.” – Daniel Webster, 4th of July, 1800, Oration at Hanover, N.H.
Define "opinion".
God is perfect in every way, and He has plenty opinions. They just all happen to actually be right, all the time.
Even so, come Lord Jesus!

haha, slug-
But seriously, what is your opinion of the statement. It's okay-I see the hilarity of the statement being followed by the question. And it isn't a trick question. I really want your opinion as to whether the statement is true.
P.S.-Are you SURE you'll never be perfect...?
"knowledge makes arrogant but love edifies"
I know I'll never be perfect. I will do all I can to be all God has enabled me to be but the flesh is weak and my flesh is a constant reminder of just how weak it can be. THEN... God works through this weakness and I see how He'll still glorify Himself because those close to me, know how I tick and when I am led by God and He is accomplishing the impossible because "I" can't do it on my own... His strength is what holds me.
Just like with Paul, I'm weak but then God's strength is made manifest through that weakness.
To be perfect? No... if I was perfect, God would not be able to shine through me, nor would I be in a condition for Him to glorify Himself through me. He's done what was needed to be done through the only perfect man, now we do as we are led and empowered to do in Christ.
Now about that opinion statement...if a man were perfect he'd have no opinion
This is one of those questions that I will think to deeply into![]()
Seems that since Jesus was the only perfect man then NO, a perfect man would have no opinion, all they thought, said or did would be pure in truth and standard and would be no opinion at all.

Hiya again slug!
Lol. You missed what I asked. Let me put the emphasis on a different word within the sentence...Are you sure you'll NEVER be perfect?
As to your answer to my original question, of course you are right!
We read and because we do not have all truth, we have to have opinions based on what we read in the word.
If I am talking about endtimes, I have to give my opinion based on what I've read because no one understands all of the prophecies concerning it. We all give our opinions. And that's fine - it's all we can do.
But concerning the gospel, take this example:
1st man: We are not obligated to forgive someone who has accused us falsely of something.
2nd man: Well, I think we are obligated to forgive them.
The 1st man has given his opinion and presented it as truth.
The 2nd man has not given his opinion - HE has given truth, and yet he says: "I think", as if he were giving his opinion.
Truly, it is the FIRST man who should say: I think, and the SECOND man who should say: The truth is, we ARE obligated to forgive a man who has falsely accused us.
My point is, the gospel is not opinion. It is truth.
The man who has given the truth and couched it as his opinion is more perfect (not perfect, but MORE perfect) than the man who has given his opinion and couched it as the truth.
2nd man has been able to speak the truth because He holds to and follows what Jesus said. THIS man has been faithful with a little and so will be given more understanding. The first man has not followed and has not been faithful in a little and so cannot expect to be given more, but should expect that what little understanding he DOES have will be taken from him.

Luke 12:47-49
47"That servant who knows his master's will and does not get ready or does not do what his master wants will be beaten with many blows. 48But the one who does not know and does things deserving punishment will be beaten with few blows. From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked.
The Lord led me to this scripture when I was in the middle of His turning me upside down and shaking me till I understood what He was telling me. Then like usual, He dropped me on my head so I don't forget the point He made.
As for your example... the "I think" shows us that even the 2nd man is applying an opinion. There's nothing to "think" about concerning God's truth and His standard. You either do it, or you don't. If you are going to do it, there is no thinking because that is hesitation.
Wait... re-read your post... OK, you are saying what I just said, or I said what you were saying
Here's what I understand... we can read the Bible and literally KNOW it front to back and be able to explain it to anyone and everyone. However, UNTIL we can LIVE IT and until we DO live it, it's just simply KNOWLEDGE.
Demons have more knowledge about the Bible than anyone will ever have yet what good is it to them since they'll never LIVE by what they KNOW.
Check this devo I pasted into a post the other day since it's inline with what you're getting at: http://bibleforums.org/showthread.ph...rained-for-War

A thread about me??? I'm honored.
If Satan can keep us busy swinging our swords at one another, there is no hope of a united attack on the kingdom of darkness. KJV, NIV, ESV or ABCDEFG; there is no time to bicker over such things. We'll devour each other if allowed to continue. We should grab the marching orders written in the way we best understand and get to work.

I think I almost passed out laughing!! Not kidding - I came close. It is hilarious to hear you thinking out loud
And that is SO true what you said - until He brings a thing to your experience, you have really only just read words that cannot grow your roots deep down into Him. But let Him actually walk you through it and...well, to put it in your own words - HOOAH!!
That explains a lot. I did not know your Daddy dropped you on your head.
Don't know what a devo is but I'll check it out.

Hey Slug-
Thank you for that thread. Everyone needs to read it.
We are at war and the soldiers are asleep.
Your big screen tv doesn't matter. Or your shiny, waxed car. Or your lawn. Or that someone hurt your feelings. Or that dinner got burned.
A soldier doesn't get caught up in civilian affairs because he KNOWS there is a war going on.
We take little earthly skirmishes so seriously and someone has a plan that we DO so that we lose sight of the WAR!
Everyone needs to shoot over to that thread and be reminded. We all get sucked into civilian affairs sometimes and need reminding that this is not a game or a joke - it's deadly serious and critical.

Well, the fact is, there is no perfect man except for Jesus Christ who is 100% man and 100% God. There is no contradiction in that either. Mankind is sinful. I know that I am sinful. I am a sinner and I commit sins every single day. However, I try not to commit mortal sins but if I do, I go to Confession as soon as possible.
If a man offend (harm) not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body.
(James 3:2)
And some believed the things which were spoken, and some believed not.
Acts 28:24
