OOps...I was joking QD. It is called sarcasm. Tongue-in-cheek. It backfires horribly on me quite often. You'd think I'd give it up.
I knew you were playing. I was playing right back.
Poor QD....sorry. I should have put one of the laughey faces so you knew for sure.

The problem I see with this idea is it doesn't explain why the US had natural disasters long before Israel became a nation again. Or explain all the ones that happen when our government isn't doing anything with them at all.

Was Obama having these talks with them when the flooding hit? When the fires in Texas were going on? When the torando's hit? I hadn't heard anything...

Look for natural disasters here when nothing was going on with them.

Not saying God isn't in control but I agree...Israel is just a secular nation like any other now.
"People do not drift toward holiness. Apart from grace-driven effort, people do not gravitate toward godliness, prayer, obedience to Scripture, faith, and delight in the Lord. We drift toward compromise and call it tolerance; We drift toward disobedience and call it freedom; We drift toward superstition and call it faith. We cherish the indiscipline of lost self-control and call it relaxation; we slouch toward prayerlessness and delude ourselves into thinking we have escaped legalism; we slide toward godlessness and convince ourselves we have been liberated?" - D A Carson

I agree. They are a secular nation just like anyone else, just like us.
But I think I see from my reading that there will come a day when He will have finished being angry at them and will open their eyes, which He has closed. (Apart from an occassional person, they mostly remain blinded.) And by my reading, it seems that at that time, He will explode against all of the nations reaching out to grab the land He has given as theirs. I don't want to be in a nation that's doing that grabbing at that time. Scary!

And one verse that really hit me was the one that says He used others to punish them but never intended that they continue to beat them mercilessly, past and above His discipline.

American nor Israel is his concern, but power is.
If Satan can keep us busy swinging our swords at one another, there is no hope of a united attack on the kingdom of darkness. KJV, NIV, ESV or ABCDEFG; there is no time to bicker over such things. We'll devour each other if allowed to continue. We should grab the marching orders written in the way we best understand and get to work.
