    Oprah??

For those who adore Oprah Winfrey and are fooled into believing that she is a true Christian, I think you should read this article. Do not be deceived by flowery words that SOUND like faith in Christ...if those words deny the truth, then it ain't true faith.

    http://www.prophecynewswatch.com/2011/May28/2881.html

In 2008, Winfrey endorsed the book "A New Earth: Awakening to Your Life’s Purpose," helping it sell more than 3.5 million copies after the talk-show host selected it for her book club. Winfrey and the book's author, Eckhart Tolle, took part in a webinar in which she angered some Christians by saying that Jesus didn't come to die on the cross.

"It really was about him coming to show us how to do it, how to be, to show us the Christ-consciousness that he had and that that consciousness abides with all of us," she told the audience.

One viewer even asked the question on the Oprah.com message boards: Is Oprah a Christian?

Pistis07 wrote: "I was surprised because I had always thought she was a Christian but after flicking through her website and watching clips of more shows where she seems to be promoting a type of New Age religion and books from 'New Age spiritualists,' I really doubt that she is a Christian in the way Jesus explained and most Christians understand. Or perhaps she's just confused about the nature of God."

I am very glad that she has gone off the air.

I did not watch her, but read about some of the 'guests' she had on, and some of the books she promoted.

It is very unfortunate, someone with such a platform for good having done such evil.

It's a pity really, because the only one who truly got glorified in all of this was her, when it should have been our God and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

Although her show has gone off the air, she has her own Network (OWN).
She seems to have too much of an influence on people.

She does, but I can not figure out why any Christian would even watch her, much less take advice from her.

Unfortunately, there are many babes in Christ who love her and admire her. They hang on her every word, as they do with many false teachers. So I posted this thread for their sake, hoping to lead them out of such dangerous things and into a stronger faith and a better foundation.

I don't like Oprah, I think she's supercillious and oft ridiculous but I don't think that someone admiring Oprah, who did, after all, get an education, pursue her goals successfully and build an actual empire on her own, having come from serious poverty, abuse, drug use, etc., means they don't have faith or need stronger faith.

I think most people are able to separate what they believe and what they wish others to see as the truth from things like entertainment. I mean if something convicts someone or grieves their soul, obviously, they should abstain from it. But plenty of Christians are, I suspect, able to admire and watch Oprah and not believe what she does or even think she's correct.

Oprah is a "new age" thinker and has been for years. You can youtube MANY of the things she's said over years for the proof. She's not a Christian she does not know the Christ of the Bible. She knows a false Christ that she's invented in her head along ith her fellow new age thinkers. These people believe the power is in you, by you.

When it's not of a religious nature, some of Oprah's topics are reasonable and informative. Other stuff is just fluff. Her religious views are a buffet style of various things. A little bit of Christianity. A touch of New Age. A hint of Buddhism. She appeals to a lot of people because of her "poor black girl going from rags to riches life story." A lot of people like to see the "under dog" come out on top. She is also involved in several charities and people find that to be noble. Unfortunately, there are people who put Oprah on quite the pedestal, including her religious views. She may be a nice and giving person, but as far as her views on God are concerned, she is in serious error. It's not too late, of course, for her to yet turn her life back around, spiritually speaking. However, the sooner she does it the better for her and her fans. There's a line in a Casting Crowns song called "What If His People Prayed" that cracks me up everytime I hear it. It's related to how people idolize Oprah so much about her advice giving abilites... "What if the family turned to Jesus, stopped asking Oprah what to do?" I think Oprah heard about this song at some point and demanded that Casting Crowns stop singing this verse in concert because when I saw them play live a few years ago the group didn't say Oprah's name during this song but the AUDIENCE still did. Oprah can stop Casting Crowns with the threat of a lawsuit but not us.

I agree with your every word!

I watched her last telecast and was amazed by the self-vaunting, sermonizing manner in which she conducted herself. She believes the hype. How far she will have to fall in order to come humbly before God, the God she proclaims to have received grace from! She made a final point that the God she worships is the Alpha and Omega--"You know---THAT God?" Sorry, Oprah, but the Alpha and Omega is Jesus and you say that there are MANY ways to God, apart from Jesus!

Her life does not exemplify Jesus. Only Oprah and her so-called good works.

    Goodbye and good riddance.

    Re: Oprah??

This is my take why people put so much stock in what she says. She does have an amazing ability to connect to people. She makes people feel loved and cared for like she knows them personally. So when you go to church and the person sitting right next to you can't even remember your name, you are drawn to people like Oprah.

DISCLAIMER: I am not an Oprah advocate; all I'm saying is I can see where people glom onto her.
