If you don't have a healthy dose of one ... you'll never cut it as a mod. Just being completely honest. Cause sometimes you don't know if you want to laugh or cry with some of the stuff you see (often it's both) ... but if you're part of a team that can make you giggle hysterically about nothing in particular so you can go pick up and wade out there and seriously tackle certain things ... I am so blessed. Fo' serious. Bless all our wee(nie) little hearts.

Alright, since you asked...

First, I am probably the weenie (see earlier denial post for clarification). It is ironic since I hate to close threads and don't do it much...

Since we are talking about it, I hope everyone knows to 'report' threads that you think need attention. The little exclamation point inside the triangle at the bottom of the post is the 'report' button. Use it, but understand we get those reports and discuss them....

I see what you're saying. Perhaps it'd better to just forbid the ones who are fighting to dialog in that thread, than to close the whole thing down.

.... it is funny, sometimes people will report a thread and offer helpful suggestions about just how to break up the fight... often these involve just making sure that whoever is disagreeing with them is made to stop being so unreasonable.

No matter where you 'draw the line' in a discussion, it is likely someone is going to feel slighted.... if two posters are slugging it out and I come in and say something the last person may well feel picked on.. and maybe even everyone else who is on their side. Worst part is that it may be that the better option is to ask them into 'Chat to Moderators' so as not to have to say anything to them on the open board and some folks get defensive there too....

As anyone who has served here with me (or elsewhere) knows.. I can (and DO) go on ALL DAY LONG about this stuff.

Here is the bottom line. The folks who serve on this board were members first, and we will return to being members... some who have posted to this thread have been back and forth (some a couple times).

We all agree to this when we come on;

It may well be one of the most significant things that makes this different from other boards, and I hope we never lose sight of it.

If you are asked to come into 'Chat to Moderators' or are wondering about something.. undertand this is where we are coming from.

I try to live up to that, and we talk about it a lot... I post it because I want everyone to know where we come from.. and be able to call us on it when we miss the mark (please do so in Chat to Moderators, just as you have a right to expect we do with you).

Do this though, make a point of taking a look at the guidelines before you do... and make sure you are doing what you agreed to when you registered here.

III. Conduct

As this is a Christian message board, conduct becoming a Christian is what is expected. We all come from different backgrounds and convictions and each member has their own different personalities and style of communicating through the written word. Remember first and foremost that we come together because of Christ and stand under Him and are accountable in all you say and do.

We do not have to agree but allow anothers disagreement to drive you into the Word for answers. Nobody has all the answers, and even in debates with gusto and passion remember that we cannot find the bottom of the knowledge of God in the flesh. We are called into fellowship in order to share, uplift and grow in our shared faith. Name calling, belittling, cutting down anothers beliefs, sour attitude or general conduct not becoming a brother or sister in the faith will not be tolerated. Keep your words well salted, in love and centered in the Light.
