Hello everyone. I'm new here. I joined because I wanted to send kudos to VerticalReality for his persistence in pursuing his original question to the forum -- he was not distracted by easy answers. Preliminary to that -- the reason I looked at one of the forums is that I am a United Methodist who is greatly saddened by the forceful intrusion of homosexuality into our fellowship and worship -- and I have been writing a series of articles intended to help errant Methodists come back to a total reliance upon God's Word instead of listening to the supposedly "rational" argumements put forth by advocates for homosexuality. As part of my research for those articles I came across a link to your forums and - voila! - here I am.
From a brief inital look through a few member posts I think I will enjoy following the questions and answers of my fellow brothers and sisters very much!
Oh, by the way, I was an Evangelical United Brethren until the merger with Methodism in 1968. I have been a Christian for a long time (since I was 12). I was privileged to attend Asbury College and Asbury Seminary. Currently I am organist for three churches and Bible teacher for one of those. I hope to offer a bit of insight gathered over the years, some discernment about what's going on in the world today, and maybe something useful to someone.
Maranatha!
Jerry
