Because she's your mom and she worries about you. It's what moms do.

That's it.

It's not a matter of right and wrong. It's your mom being ... a mom.

Give her hugs and kisses and tell her you so appreciate her loving you and worrying about your well-being. Then trust God, and go back to the shelter and keep right on trucking.

You'll understand how it works when you have kids one day.

It sounds like your mom is just worried about you. Her preconceived ideas of what these poor people will be like is stopping her from seeing this situation for what it is, a chance to love them as Jesus does. It's harder to step out in love when those around don't understand, I know, but you know that your are being obedient to the Lord. Maybe as you listen to the stories these poor souls have, you can have something to share with your mom that will help her see these people as needy instead of bad?

In two days time I will move into a home of my own for the first time in two years. In that time, I have stayed with family, friends and even been in a homeless hostel. I did nothing wrong to deserve the situation, it was the hardened hearts of others that caused it. I never believed it could have happened to me, yet here I am relating to these people. The Lord is good, all the time, and He is able to keep me in all situations! I have seen the love of Christ shining brightly in the hearts of people like you, don't stop please, you have no idea how much of a blessing you are, and how much you shine the light of Christ where it's needed most!
