Joshua 2: 18

[Ta-An]

יח הִנֵּה אֲנַחְנוּ בָאִים, בָּאָרֶץ; אֶת-תִּקְוַת חוּט הַשָּׁנִי הַזֶּה תִּקְשְׁרִי, בַּחַלּוֹן אֲשֶׁר הוֹרַדְתֵּנוּ בוֹ, וְאֶת-אָבִיךְ וְאֶת-אִמֵּךְ וְאֶת-אַחַיִךְ וְאֵת כָּל-בֵּית אָבִיךְ, תַּאַסְפִי אֵלַיִךְ הַבָּיְתָה. 18
Behold, when we come into the land, thou shalt bind this line of scarlet thread in the window which thou didst let us down by; and thou shalt gather unto thee into the house thy father, and thy mother, and thy brethren, and all thy father's household.

Fenris, does 'et' not merely point to the direct object??
Is the direct object here the 'hope' or the rope??
Can hope be an object??

I read 'hope' ieo.... thread and line....... תִּקְוַת I read as tikvah

the 'et' was pointing to the whole concept of "line of scarlet thread" and not to a single word...
