    Lawless Islands Being Created

I'm not sure what to make of this, I'm not sure if it's incredibly scary or if I wish I could do something like that with just 5 or 6 families (Christian only of course)...then there's the idea of how will they protect themselves from pirates and gee whiz, even the taliban would love to take over that sort of thing.
Anyway, this guy is helping to fun floating man made islands for "libertarians" without laws and limited weapons, no minimum wage laws and so forth, kind of scary if you think about it.

Don't know who that is, so I couldn't tell you, but I am not so sure it's his idea, but the article seems to indicate that he is simply investing in it.

I'm a little confused. If you don't have any rules or laws, human nature being what it is, won't there eventually be, well, anarchy? How would that be a good thing?

Of course it would be a bad thing, I don't know why these people think it would be good. An experiment in humanity I guess...maybe it's a bunch of liberals trying to prove they don't need rules or God because they are by nature good???? Of course as Christians we know this to be bunk.

True. This would be a conservative experiment. Liberals are the ones responsible for things like miminum wage and business regulations. Libertarians, and conservatives in general, believe that capitalism is by nature good, and should not be interfered with.

Such an experiment, of course, is doomed to fail.

I thought the libertarians were the liberal side of the tea party coin....I've seen some of the stuff they stand for and it tends to lean liberal, of course I could be confusing them with another newer party.

Libertarians have their own party (Libertarian Party) but they also have a lot of representation in the Republican Party. People like sarah palin, Michele Bachmann, and especially Ron Paul, lean toward Libertarianism.

The Libertarians are mostly united by their distrust of government (although I find it odd that so many anti-government people want to be elected to government jobs).

Basically, the libertarians believe that the "free market" regulates everything. Some go as far as to say it even regulates human behavior.

As a socialist, I completely reject the libertarian view. Although liberals, who support capitalism in general, also reject most of the libertarian views. Moderate Republicans also so the need to have at least some limited form of government.

ok, thanks for clearing that up.
Although I knew they were against big govt, like the tea party is...but I gotta say, this is stupidity, you have to have some form of govt, especially when you start adding numbers to your population. I mean even a family has a govt of it's own and that's how it all developed anyway, start with a family, it gets larger, you need more leaders, soon those leaders are disagreeing on how best to direct and protect their family, and then you have division, and it just snow balls from there.

    Atlas Shrugged.

    Galt's Gulch - a place where the over-regulating socialist can't gain entry.

If the people in these types of places were Christians, then the Word that is written on their hearts would be their laws.

If they aren't Christians, they can always write their own, and they probably would not need a whole lot of paper.
