Re: Man arrested for insulting Islam on Facebook

There are denominations that have not only condoned homosexuality but also have voted to ordain openly gay ministers and to perform gay marriages.

As a Christian I am to obey the whole word of God and not pick and choose as I please. How they explain going counter to what scripture says is beyond me.
This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.

I agree Brian. Homosexuality is a sin. No one should "marry" a same sex couple and say it is sanctioned by "the church". It is not.

But homosexuality is not a "larger" sin than fornication or gluttony or lying. Is it?

No, it isn't. Some people may want to claim it is, for whatever reason, but the truth is that it isn't.

    Two questions then:

    1. Why is it "wrong" to allow two people of the same sex to have a civil union but it's "fine" for an obese male and a gossipy female to get married in a church?

    and

    2. What does the government of Egypt arresting a person who said something against Islam have to do with standing up for civil rights in the United States?

Nope. In fact I have stated that very thing on this very forum in the past.

What does the government of Egypt arresting a person who said something against Islam have to do with standing up for civil rights in the United States?

Nothing as far as I can tell. But I'm a good bunny that's just a hoppin on down the bunny trail.

Are you asking me about the rabbit trail?

    No.

It seemed to me that you were asking what the Christians and gays in America had to do with the OP. I was saying that it didn't have anything to do with it as far as I could tell but that like a dumb bunny I hopped on the rabbit trail with my post.

    I'm kind of obscure sometimes.

S'alright. I can be dense at times.

So, you had the same question I had - and neither of us have an answer but that's ok too.

    Thank you, Brian!

You'll have to explain that a bit better for me to understand what you are meaning. Why should any Christian care what an unbeliever does?

And our being a Christian is determined by whether or not we condemn unbelievers for homosexuality?
Maybe i was being a bit too subtle .

Note that i use a lower case c when i was refering to christians who are fighting for acceptance of the homosexual lifestyle. But i used a capitolised C when i referred to Christians that never do this. So lower case christian is my way identifying a false Christian and when i use the Upper case C Christian i am saying they are true Christians.

My statement was never about unbelievers. It was pointing towards False Believers who preach against the World of God.

And we do not condemn anyone when we reveal the homosexual sex act as an abomination to God. We are in fact giving warning. We are revealing that homosexuals need the atonement of the Messiah Jesus.

False christans who wish to tell homosexuals that their lifestyle is ok with God are committing a far greater evil then the abomination that is homosexual sex.

While I agree with much of what you say, I disagree with you when you say that the actual act of homosexuality is a lesser sin than condoning it.

    My favorite scripture: Malachi 3:16

"Then they that feared the LORD spake often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name!" (Every time we speak of the Lord, or even THINK of him--its written down in a book of remembrance!)

There's subtle - and then there's sly innuendo. I wanted to make certain before I responded.

I support the rights of gay Americans to have the same rights as straight Americans. Their sexual orientation should have no bearing at all on whether they can leave their estate to whomever they choose, visit a person in an ICU even though they are not related, have the same insurance policies, etc.

I do not support the "right" of a "marriage" within the church. That is a God/man/woman covenant only.

Now, I am guessing that you will/would call me a "c"hristian.

I call myself smart enough to understand the Constitution while being "C"hristian enough to read the bible.

    I Corinthians 5
    9 I wrote you in my letter not to associate with immoral people;

10 I did not at all mean with the immoral people of this world, or with the covetous and swindlers, or with idolaters, for then you would have to go out of the world.

11 But actually, I wrote to you not to associate with any so-called brother if he is an immoral person, or covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or a swindler—not even to eat with such a one.

12 For what have I to do with judging outsiders? Do you not judge those who are within the church?

13 But those who are outside, God judges. REMOVE THE WICKED MAN FROM AMONG YOURSELVES.

Looks to me like we should worry a bit more about the fat pastor or the gossipy sister than about the unbelieving homosexual.

But then, we would lose the popularity contests that seem to be the criteria of most.

I do not think for a single second that homosexuality is "ok" - it most assuredly is not. But I also cannot expect unbelievers to live a Christian lifestyle - especially not when most Christians have their own baggage.

Hope that helps clear up my stand as an American. And as "C"hristian.

And then we become exactly like them.

    No thanks.

So how's about Egypt? It looks like they're turning a blind eye to terror attacks on Israel.

Aren't we all glad they had that revolution?
Hear the word of the Lord, O nations, and declare it on the islands from afar, and say, "He Who scattered Israel will gather them together and watch them as a shepherd his flock."

Yes - let us support the sadists. We should have "kept" Mubarack in power. After all, he only abused his own people.
