What will we lay on the altar and sacrifice to God? The legalist firmly states that any drinking is wrong and a sin while the libertine states with equal fervor that if the bible does not specifically prohibit it we are free to partake. Are we to love this life and the things therein?

Did not Paul teach by example and word that he did not do things that he had the liberty to do that the gospel might go forth? Believers are to be a living testimony to the saving grace of Christ.

What if using a version other than the KJV seems wrong to another believer?

Amen and by the examples all throughout the Bible... drinking of alcohol is not a sin and will not damage testimony. Only the legalistic (a Pharisee as a model of legalism calling something a SIN, when it's NOT.) people in the Body of Christ do EXACTLY what the Pharisee's did in an attempt to damage Jesus' character as they accused Him of being a winebibber (given to wine) due to His consumption of wine.

We see it all throughout this thread as well as some have chosen to follow that model of legalistic measures of performance. A single drink = sin according to such people and they IGNORE the scriptures and the examples given to us in the Word of God.

Yes... given to wine is BAD. The Bible has choice words for those who are given to wine and some of those words are winebibber, drunkard and in all context, this is where the sin is at. In the ABUSIVE consumption of wine, NOT in the consumption of wine and that is where people choose to be in error.

Yes, we see through Romans 14 that is it wrong to consume wine before a person who has determined that THEY are not to drink wine. As a Christian, that MUST be respected. The same person who has determined wine is NOT for them... ALSO must respect that when a person has NOT determined that a glass of wine with dinner is ok for them, they are not to call them a winebibber!

JUST AS THOSE PHARISEES did with Jesus.

Church leadership has been clearly instructed... don't be given to wine. So when they drink a glass with dinner, they are NOT given to wine. They are in alignment with scripture, they are NOT sinning and quite frankly, just following the example that Jesus set forth as He drank wine.

Now... if a person or people in this thread can't discuss this scripturally and can only speak through what they have determined to be sin and thus it's a sin for ALL who drink a wine as Jesus drank wine... at least don't reduce this discussion to a level of character bashing... this is a SURE sign of the spirits of religiousness and legalism trying to do their damnable work in the Body of Christ.

Anyway... EXACTLY LIKE THE PHARISEES DID TO JESUS, due to their frustrations and the fact that they could not reason with Jesus' teaching. We have MORE than what the Pharisee's had to work with since we have the Word of God, YET some are still acting out the exact same way that the Pharisee's were acting out.

Anyway... to those who don't drink for WHATEVER the reason, that's a BIG HOOAH to them. To those who do, as Jesus did... that's a BIG HOOAH also.

Let's not be reduced to acting out like the Pharisees because the big Hooah given to those who drink a wine with dinner is not respected by those who have their big Hooah because they have chosen to not drink. Same for those who drink... if you are reduced to attacking the character of those who don't drink, you're just as wrong.

So... with this said I'm closing this thread since the spiraling in a downward spiral has reached the level of character bashing to include questioning the types of Bibles in use.
