Do we follw Jesus or Paul ??

Hi to all do we follow Jesus or do we follow Paul ??

In 1 Cor 11;1 , " Be ye followers of me , even as I also of Christ .

Yet in 2 Cor 5:16 , we have these words , So then , from now ( on ) we know no one according to ( the ) flesh ; and if even we have known Christ to ( the ) flesh , yet now we know ( Him ) no more .

This verse says " from NOW " is in the Greek Perfect tense , which means Past Action with Continuing Results .

And Saul , I believe knew Jesus , because Saul was a Pharisee and sat in the Sanhedrin ( Phil 3:5 )

So , then from that point on , no one will ever know Christ in the flesh , because Jesus has a new boby , and the Continuing Results are in the Present tense and it is is in the Actice voice and in the Indicative mood of Fact .

That means no one can ever follow the earthly Jesus and we as we follow Paul we follow the Lord and the gospel that Paul is preaching , the message of Grace , Eph 3:1-9 and Rom 16:25 , dan p

    Both.
If Paul followed Jesus, and we follow Paul, it stands to reason that we are following Jesus as well, regardless of whether we see (or know) him in the flesh or not.
We don't see (or know)Paul in the flesh either. But that is neither here nor there. We follow the teaching, not a physical or spiritual apparition.

I am amazed at these schemes that seek to deny the truth. Why not pray to Mary while we're at it? Paul is not a mediator to Jesus. Rather Jesus Christ is the Mediator of the new covenant. If one does not understand the power of the gospel, I suppose any interpretation seems as good as the next.

Um... we follow Christ. Last I read... that's the only way to the Father. Seriously... Paul instead of Christ? You know... this is Pauline Only gone insane. What a horribly dangerous and silly doctrine.

I agree. Paul clearly asserts that he is an apostle of Jesus Christ, and as such, he is claiming that he is teaching what Christ taught.

Pauline only? As in only the Pauline epistles apply to us? I agree, that is dangerous and scary. All Scripture is profitable for a child of God. Besides, the other Biblical writers also wrote of the Grace of Christ, not just Paul.
1 John 1:7- But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

2 Corinthians 7:1- Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

He knew of Jesus of course and naturally would have detested him but "Saul" didn't really know Jesus in a friendly way until Jesus confronted him and his anti-god behavior.

Do they say different things? If so we shouldn't even read Paul.

Paul does not contradict either Jesus or the Old Testament. You can read any part of the scripture we have today and do just fine.

2Co 5:16 Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more.

The fellowship of the brethren is in the divine light of the Spirit. A Christian doesn't have pals. We are to fellowship in the new man, not trade fishing stories.

In terms of their teaching we follow both since they both taught the word of God. On a personal basis we follow Jesus as our personal Lord and Savior. Paul is obviously not our personal Lord and Savior so we don't follow him in that sense.
