    Question about Wordpress

First, I do not know much about this. My 'daughter,' Annie, in Romania, put up the website and usually does all of the stuff. She put Wordpress on so that I could post easily.

Now, I 'published' a post, thinking it would be on my homepage. But Wordpress gives a short intro[which Annie wrote to clean up my mess] followed by 'continue reading' link which take you to another page...she said that is just the way it works... so if I link to this with some advertising people will not see the promotion to start with.

Both pages show the same url...is there a way to link to the second page with the 'recent post'?

    Website is here: http;//mikesnow.org

Like with any software, you need to learn to drive Wordpress to get the most out of it. This should help get you started

Thanks, I'll take a look at that when I get some time. [Right now have a combine to get parts for and fix] I guess that is a "no" to my question.

They make a plugin that you can download and install that allows you to change the order of posts . The last post you do is your homepage. But the plugin allows you to organize your posts by easy drag and drop list.

    The plugin is here: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/post-types-order/

In your admin panel where you put up your posts. If you go into where it says "Posts" you will see: All Posts, Add New, Categories, Post Tags, and Re-order. You click on "re-order" and a page will load showing all the names of your post newest to oldest. The one at the top will be your home page.

What you do here is you click on the one you want to be your homepage and drag it to the top, and you will notice as you drag it the other post will move until you let go of the mouse button dropping that post where you want it. Then go to the bottom of page and click save and your homepage will be the post you put at the top of the list. So every time you post a new page you go to that plugin page and do the same thing and it will keep your homepage to what you want.

What's also nice about this plugin is if you want to alternate different pages on your home page you can drag the one you want to the top of the list click save and you have a different homepage. So you could have more than one homepage and alternate them if you wish.

I have found a way in wordpress to make a static homepage. Under the settings menu you click "reading". You will see the options: 1) Your latest posts. 2) A static page... You select a static page and from the drop down menu select the page you want to have as your homepage.

If you do not see the page you want in the drop down menu, this means that you have put it in your posts instead of pages. You see posts and pages are 2 different things in wordpress. So to create a "page" that you can select to be your static homepage you have to select "Pages" in the main menu and go to "add new". Pages work just like posts as far as making one goes. So you can actually copy and paste the information from a post that exists if you need to, to make your homepage. Now if you saw what you wanted in that drop down list, then disregard this part.

I'm used to working with forums, and I beginning to get the hang of blogs and how they work. So I can relate if you are confused.
