Has anyone ever posted their resume on sites like Careerbuilder

I just don't understand how your current employer would not see your information and that you have your resume posted. I've read posts where people say to take your personal information off, but how can they contact you. And if your current position/employment is on there, they would see that and know it is you.

For example, I work in a specific department in a hospital. So if the hospital HR people do a search for resumes in my area, wouldn't they see I am looking for a job

I have my resume on CareerBuilder. The site allows you to keep your resume private and not able to be viewed by anyone. This way you can still search for prospective jobs and only submit your resume to those businesses that you want to have your resume.

For instance, I have two resumes on Careerbuilder: a public resume and a private resume. But you might want to only have a private resume. Your private resume will be hidden from view, which will keep trollers from finding you. When you want to apply for a job, you simply click on the place where it asks for a resume, and the prospective employer is sent a resume.

If you want to have a public resume. Before you post your resume, obtain one of the free e-mail accounts from Google, Yahoo, or Msn or whatever. Name it something like "Catloverjobhunting@gmail.com" or something like that. (If you want to avoid spam bots, you might spell out your address such as "catloverjobhunting at gmail dot com".) And only use that e-mail account for that purpose. Create a resume with only your name and your new e-mail address on it. Then go ahead and make that resume public if you want. This will allow someone to contact you, but only at your new e-mail address. And all the bogus e-mails and spam will go there also. But at least they will have a way to contact you. Don't worry about what your current employer will say about having a public resume on-line. I think it is fairly common for people to keep a current resume on job sites even when not pursuing a job at the current time.

The next thing you should do is make a cover letter. The cover letter should be tailored for each company from which you seek employment. And here is where you place the appropriate personal information such as your phone number, address, cell number, e-mail address or whatever contact information you deem important to your perspective employer and the job application. Only send your cover letter to a prospective employer during the job application process.

So, remove all your personal information from your resume except your name and your new e-mail address. And place all your contact information in your cover letter, which only your prospective employers will see.
