Oy vey. This is Moses speaking.

When a simple verse is tortured like this to make one of the bible's greatest heroes into a bad person, I think I need a break from this place. Seriously.
Hear the word of the Lord, O nations, and declare it on the islands from afar, and say, "He Who scattered Israel will gather them together and watch them as a shepherd his flock."

Not if you merely stop him, but if you murder him that definitely is sinning.

What if the only way to stop him is to kill him?

Stop? You are changing a wrongful killing/murder into just stopping now? Moses did not stop at stopping the hitting, he stopped the man from living and the bible says it was wrong and when you kill someone and it's wrong according to God, that is murder.

The bible doesn't say Moses was wrong. What an amazing mangling of the text you just did.

Words have meaning. The bible has a message. It doesn't just exist to prove what you already believe.

Keep mangling that text. It can mean anything you want. Anything at all.

The unmangled text shows that Moses committed murder. Truth is always hard to swallow.

It actually says he beheaded the Egyptian and said "There can be only one!"

If we're going to make things up, let's be creative here.

Ok, then I'll make up that Moses was justified in taking that man's life. Moses did nothing wrong that day. He is a hero!

Closer to the biblical text than what you said before.
Hear the word of the Lord, O nations, and declare it on the islands from afar, and say, "He Who scattered Israel will gather them together and watch them as a shepherd his flock."

of course. Because the bible doesn't mean anything. It's only there to prove what we already believe.
Hear the word of the Lord, O nations, and declare it on the islands from afar, and say, "He Who scattered Israel will gather them together and watch them as a shepherd his flock."

God waited for forty years after Moses killed the man before God spoke to Moses. Can you speculate on why God left Moses alone for forty years.
