Christmas Outside the Box, Luke 2

For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord

...the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us.

16And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger.

17And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child.

18And all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds.

So, how we doing, fellow shepherds (Christians) out there?

    SCROOGE! ..........
    My favorite scripture: Malachi 3:16

"Then they that feared the LORD spake often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name!" (Every time we speak of the Lord, or even THINK of him--its written down in a book of remembrance!)

Even the Grinch came around eventually.
Hear the word of the Lord, O nations, and declare it on the islands from afar, and say, "He Who scattered Israel will gather them together and watch them as a shepherd his flock."

    Another .
    "Enter by the Narrow Gate...
Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way...
... there are few who find it."

I'm doing quite fine, here, Thanks. But then again, I don't keep my sheep out in the middle of December, either.
Don't bother to answer me because I left this board for good. I'm interested in what the bible really teaches, so, geez why did I end up here (if that says anything)?

LOL. Ok, I'll throw my own thread off topic for a moment! When I am in Romania, I see shepherds in the fields with their sheep all winter. And this is at the same latitude as the North Dakota/South Dakota border! [You can see a picture or two of this on my homepage link to Romania pictures.] There is a "world of difference" in climates. And at the time of Jesus' birth, it was the Roman warm period.

Now, I don't suppose that Jesus was born in December, but it cannot be absolutely ruled out, either. And shepherds in the fields are no evidence against a December date.

But then, shouldn't we speak only of the truth that we do know?

Tradition is the glue of community.
Unhappy is he who mistakes the branch for the tree, the shadow for the substance.
