I kept telling him, "We need to make you an appointment with the doctor." And he kept reminding me he goes on Dec. 15th and he'd wait till then.

But then, he started looking real yellow, Jaundiced looking! Over his objections, I called our doctor. He went in this morning after fasting after midnight, and ended up having to go through all kinds of tests...lab work, ultra sound, cat scan, drinking that chalky stuff, even an IV ... We were at the hospital all day. Left about 9:30 this morning and got home about 5:30 this evening. (Our doctor actually brought him a plate of food into the examing room afterward! We were concerned about his not getting to eat all day since he has diabetis 2. They brought both of us a plate with homemade chicken salad on homemade wheat bread, baked homemade chicken nuggets, and all kinds of cut up fruit. We'd never had a plate of food in an examining room at the doctor's office! Our doctor feels like part of our family. He's a very concerned person and really caring.)

Bill has an obstruction where his liver/bile duct enters the small intestine. The hospital in Knoxville is to call us tomorrow to tell us if he goes Monday or Tuesday to have the 'scope' down his throat, all the way to the obstruction to try to find out what it is. Our doctor and both of us are VERY concerned. VERY. The doctor said there is no indication at this point that it is cancer, but he's going to find out as fast as he can.

We've been married over 54 years and dated a year before that. Please pray this is something that can be gotten rid of easily. He is so jandiced looking.... Its troubling. We really appreciate each prayer!

On the case Diggin... I remember what a thoroughly nice man Bill was the day we met the two of you. We'll certainly be praying for you both.

    UPDATE:
Well, we're both worn to a frazzle. They ended up keeping Bill 'overnight', but then they kept him also on Tuesday night and we finally got home today about 5:00 in the evening. On Monday, the doctor put a shunt into the duct where the 'obstruction' was. It turned out the liver duct was not allowing the liver to do its job because it was a 'constriction' problem and not an 'obstruction'. He had more tests on Tuesday and they found cancer cells.

Then today, he had a biopsy. They found a 'mass' atop (or a tumor) on his adrenal gland, 2 spots on the bottom of one lung and one spot on his pancreas. They went in through his back and got the sample for the biopsy. Now we are home, waiting for the results to see where the cancer originated, and how they can treat it. We know already they can't just go in and cut all that out. That means chemo and/or radiation. They just have to see where to start, and they have to start at wherever it originated.

So, we do appreciate the prayers. We really do! May God bless each person who is praying and may He bless each of you DOUBLE for praying for Bill........
    My favorite scripture: Malachi 3:16

"Then they that feared the LORD spake often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name!" (Every time we speak of the Lord, or even THINK of him--its written down in a book of remembrance!)

Do they know for sure its cancer? Adrenal masses are commonly benign and many people have tiny spots on their lungs for various reasons.

Dear Lord please let this not be cancer. If so, we ask that you would remove it from his body. Amen.

Cancer cells showed up in the biopsy. But I do believe we serve a miracle working God! And I believe the name of Jesus is above all names...even the name cancer. Thank you, NHL, for praying that God will remove it from his body!

So sorry to hear that, Judy. But don't forget that a lot of people have been completely healed of cancer--even those doctors had written off. Know that you have many, many prayers ascending before the throne of God.

When we stand before the Judgment Seat, we will have retained only two things from our earthly life: what God gave us, and what we did with what He gave us.

Prayed as soon as I read your update when it came in my mail Judy. Prayed for comfort and rest for you both tonight so you can get much needed rest. Asked our merciful Father to remove this cancer and heal Bill's body. Love you my friend

I am so sorry to hear of this cancer dear sister, but we really do serve a God of miracles, I am testimony of that. I was diagnosed with metastatic cancer in 2003, it was in my kidney and in my lung. Doctors gave us little hope, but unbeknown to them, my glorious Father had numbered my days, and no cancer was going to change that!!

I am praying for His all surpassing peace to engulf you, Bill and your family at this time. More than that, I am praying for healing, for I KNOW that our God is bigger than any cancer!!!

    blessings dear sister

Re: Help me pray for my husband, please.

    UPDATE:
First I want to thank all who are praying for Bill and I pray that God blesses you DOUBLE because you are praying for him. And me.

They found out what kind of cancer it is. It is called a Neuroendocrine tumor. The doctor said its an unusual rare cancer and its very slow growing. He said its most likely been in Bill's body for a long time (probably for years), but just now causing the symptoms because it has spread. He has an appointment to see a cancer specialist on Monday January 9th at 10:45 am and the doctor will tell him then what treatment options are available.

Since they put the shunt in his liver duct he IS feeling and looking a lot better. His bowels are back to normal, his urine is no longer black coffee colored and his skin is not yellow any more and we really do thank God for that. Also, we are thankful to God that this IS a very SLOW growing cancer! (They probably would not have found it IF his liver duct had not been constricted and nearly closed off. So we even thank God that his problems with his bowels and urine color and his skin coloring led them to find the cancer.)

He dreads the chemo and/or whatever treatments he's facing because any cancer treatment seems harsh to our bodies, but we both made up our mind to enjoy Christmas and OUR FAMILY for now...and we really have! I sincerely thank you, each and every one of you, for the prayers!
