Hear the word of the Lord, O nations, and declare it on the islands from afar, and say, "He Who scattered Israel will gather them together and watch them as a shepherd his flock."

That is not proof, that is disagreement.
Tertullian, Hippolytus, Origen, the Chronicon Cyranicum, Eusebius of Caesarea, John Chrysostom, Jerome, Hippolytus of Thebes, The Paschal Chronicle, Photius the Patriarch of Constantinople, the Greek historian Zonaras, Bar Hebraeus (who quoted Syrian, Armenian, and Greek sources, Epiphanius and the early Syrian chronological work, the Chronicon Edessenum, indicate the nativity was 2BC. This would be one year off from our present date, since there is no year zero.
Dionysius Exiguus was aware of most of these claims when he set a date of 1BC. It was not challenged until the sixteenth Century.
Does anyone think it was 1 BC? or is that considered by almost all scholars to be the wrong date?

Just wondering, some out, but what is the big deal about Jesus likely having been born (or not) around 4 BC? The calendar is what it is, and if it is off by a few years, then it is off. I haven't read through all the posts, but what is the big deal?

Well said, and (a thing I am fond of saying) historically true.
Hear the word of the Lord, O nations, and declare it on the islands from afar, and say, "He Who scattered Israel will gather them together and watch them as a shepherd his flock."

Though, I must say, the way many 'Christians' have interpreted Jesus' influence and intentions (like during the 'inquisitions') have been totally off.
Christians are entitled to have their heroes and villains just as any other religion.
On the whole it's been a net plus though.
