I never said that Jeremiah was within the context of Ezekiel. I said that the evidence that Ezekiel 22 happened in the past is in the context of the book as a whole. My quote from Jeremiah about rain was in answer to another question of yours.
I then showed you that indeed there was a drought at this same time in Israel according to Jeremiah.Ok. Ya seemed to want to talk more of this scripture. You say it already happened. I say its future. Could you show me where it did not rain in your already happened senierio ?
Jeremiah 3 (NASB95)
3 “Therefore the showers have been withheld, And there has been no spring rain. Yet you had a harlot’s forehead; You refused to be ashamed.
Jeremiah 14 (NASB95)
4 “Because the ground is cracked, For there has been no rain on the land; The farmers have been put to shame, They have covered their heads.
Hello Cyber. I haven't read the entire thread so please forgive me if someone has already posted this.
When Israel didn't keep the Sabbath years, they were sent off into bondage to the Chaldeans and the Babylonians. Why did God do/allow that? Well, he wanted something from Israel. He wanted Israel to "know Him" and to seek Him with all their heart.
Jer 24:4-7
4 Then the word of the Lord came to me, saying, 5 "Thus says the Lord God of Israel, 'Like these good figs, so I will regard as good the captives of Judah, whom I have sent out of this place into the land of the Chaldeans. 6 'For I will set My eyes on them for good, and I will bring them again to this land; and I will build them up and not overthrow them, and I will plant them and not pluck them up. 7 'I will give them a heart to know Me, for I am the Lord; and they will be My people, and I will be their God, for they will return to Me with their whole heart.
NASU
Part of the purpose of the Sabbath is to know the rest and peace of God but more importantly, it is to know Him. Jesus fulfilled this by showing us who God really is.
John 14:9
...He who has seen Me has seen the Father...

"May the Lamb that was slain receive the just reward for His sufferings." A quote by Moravian missionary that sold himself (along with a friend) into slavery to reach those that the slave owner prevented from hearing the gospel.
May I live for Him and not for me.
It was in the food laws that God said "Be holy even as I am holy". Peter quoted that verse in the NT.
1 Peter 1:14-16
14 As obedient children, do not be conformed to the former lusts which were yours in your ignorance, 15 but like the Holy One who called you, be holy yourselves also in all your behavior; 16 because it is written, "YOU SHALL BE HOLY, FOR I AM HOLY."
NASU
In the OT it says this...
Lev 11:42-45
42 'Whatever crawls on its belly, and whatever walks on all fours, whatever has many feet, in respect to every swarming thing that swarms on the earth, you shall not eat them, for they are detestable. 43 ' Do not render yourselves detestable through any of the swarming things that swarm; and you shall not make yourselves unclean with them so that you become unclean. 44 'For I am the Lord your God. Consecrate yourselves therefore, and be holy, for I am holy. And you shall not make yourselves unclean with any of the swarming things that swarm on the earth. 45 ' For I am the Lord who brought you up from the land of Egypt to be your God; thus you shall be holy, for I am holy.'"
NASU
So naturally, the question is, what is it about what we eat that makes us holy or detestable? Fast forward to the NT.
Matt 4:4
4 But He answered and said, "It is written, 'MAN SHALL NOT LIVE ON BREAD ALONE, BUT ON EVERY WORD THAT PROCEEDS OUT OF THE MOUTH OF GOD.'"
NASU
Jesus teaches us here that God's word is food! In another place we are told this...
John 6:35
35 Jesus said to them, " I am the bread of life; he who comes to Me will not hunger, and he who believes in Me will never thirst.
NASU
Jesus is the bread of life! We also know that in John 1, Jesus is the word. In the NT, the word of God and Christ are considered clean foods. We eat them through meditation, reading, thinking, enjoying, experiencing, etc. What then are the unclean foods? (And note, these are foods that impact our soul and spirit!)
2 Cor 10:5-6
5 We are destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ, 6 and we are ready to punish all disobedience, whenever your obedience is complete.
NASU
So unclean food would be speculations, lofty things raised up against God, etc. We are to take these thoughts captive and not eat them. Said another way...
Phil 4:8-9
8 Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things. 9 The things you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.
NASU
So we are conformed to Christ by "eating the bread of life" we are defiled and detestable when we allow our hearts to entertain thoughts that are against God. Those seeds are then planted in our hearts, when we do not take them captive. We eat them. Then those seeds bear fruit. When this happens, then from our hearts come bad things and we are defiled.
Mark 7:17-23
17 When he had left the crowd and entered the house, His disciples questioned Him about the parable. 18 And He said to them, "Are you so lacking in understanding also? Do you not understand that whatever goes into the man from outside cannot defile him, 19 because it does not go into his heart, but into his stomach, and is eliminated?" (Thus He declared all foods clean.) 20 And He was saying, " That which proceeds out of the man, that is what defiles the man. 21 "For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed the evil thoughts, fornications, thefts, murders, adulteries, 22 deeds of coveting and wickedness, as well as deceit, sensuality, envy, slander, pride and foolishness. 23 "All these evil things proceed from within and defile the man."
NASU

Some good thoughts there brother Mark.
I never thought of connecting Lev 11:42-45 with Mark 7:17-23. Crawling unclean things make a very descriptive picture of sin!![]()
If one is broken on this road of gravel,
That we travel:
He can fix him. Nothing licks Him.
It was never a mistake to trust the Lord.
