PREACHERS : Do you preach to keep your job?

I found this scripture and had to ask this question to the preachers and ministers.

Do you preach from your heart or to keep a paycheck?

    Galatians 1 : 10 - 12 (Paul, an apostle)
For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ. But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man. For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelationof Jesus Christ.

one would wonder the number of preachers who have the Holy Spirit compared to the number that think that they do.

I'm a pastor. Been in ministry for over 30 years. I fail to see how this verse relates to a paycheck.

Who are you to judge if they do or don't?
How can God work through you and speak to your heart in church if you go to church wondering if they do?

who am i to judge ?

do you believe somone just because they tell you they are something ?

or do you judge and weigh their words to see if they confess Christ

the blind leed the blind and they both fall in the ditch

would you follow a preacher who didnt have the Holy Spirit ? sounds foolish to me

God can work in your heart reading scripture, he can work in your heart sittin in a dark room thinking, God is all powerful

big difference between judging a person and judging actions.

One can judge the objective such as the fruit but not the subjective where it is hard to know for sure

If the pastor is living in sin and not practicing what they preach then the fruit is rotten. But if the fruit is good then beware if you question if they are or are not holy spirit lead.

Actually, the context of the scripture you used... your question (for the example of your topic) should be:

WHAT I preach, do you believe it is of man or of God and thus, am worthy of the pay?

The subject is about what the Galatians believed, if what Paul was preaching... was taught by man (for their pleasure), or by God (for His pleasure).

Re: PREACHERS : Do you preach to keep your job?

We are in the end times and we have those who preach to tickle the ears of the listeners. It would seem clear that false teachers have been a problem since the apostles. The gnostics would be good example.

The presence of the Holy Spirit in both the speaker and the hearer is readily made manifest by God. I have heard a fair number of preachers from young men in training to seasoned men with great reputations. The Holy Spirit has ministered through both even though some were a little tedious to listen to. I have also heard some who were apostate and it was obvious that God was not in their message.

I do not think any would be cavalier enough to admit that they preach only for the money. Before you entertain judging another you might want to examine yourself before God. i have always found enough in my life to keep me busy so I do not need to concern myself with what another man is doing. Judging others especially preachers is not a prudent activity. If you hear a man preach and don't find him biblical and Spirit filled go elsewhere and let God deal with him.

    Well I truly am sorry.

I was not intending anything of such.

To me the scripture reads as ...Do you please men or do you please God when you preach.

So, why did you add your comment about the paycheck in the post?

It was not intended to offend.

Like what Slug1 said. Are you worthy of your pay?

Don't you ask yourself from time to time, if the message lined out for Sunday is the right one?

Do you always feel like when finished with your Sunday service that you have done 100% of your efforts.
Thus worthy of the paycheck and MORE IMPORTANT worthy to do God preaching.

DON'T YOU THINK that somewhere RIGHT NOW there's a young minister out there that needs our prayers and may be uncertain.

THESE ARE THE THOUGHTS that I have towards this. Praise God.

I think many pastors today are in it for the money. Notice I said "many." I did not say "all" or "most." I said "many."
I dont think that is pastor bashing, just a statement of a very sad fact.

The preacher doesn't ask "himself" that... I don't think you understood what I said.

Paul is informing the Galatians that what He speaks wasn't taught from man, but taught from God.

So... when "you" listen to a preacher, you have to discern the message is of God or of man. If it's of God... no question should even be asked concerning if the preacher is deserving of salary/payment.

    .
The preachers I know spend countless hours on their knees in prayer and would never leave the knelt position to preach if God didn't confirm the message to them.
So the answer is I do not walk to the pulpit to preach if I am going to question if it was the right message
