    Need.....well...want....Recipe Software.....Any Suggestions??

Ok, so I set out to organize this pile of(I don't even know what's in there any more) recipes that have accumulated over the years... I did download several freebies, and while they are probably good programs, they would not work on my computer for various error messages that mean absolutely nothing to my brain. I did finally get two of the six or so I downloaded to work after spending time at the microsoft website which pretty much left me in the mood to use language that is not really becoming of a lady.....

One that did work is called "ReLiSimple"...(after downloading something that I have no idea what it was in order to make this one work) and it indeed is really simple and I would be content, but, when you print the recipe the ingredients are just in a long line as opposed to having the information in easily readable more formatted columns. Plus, I'll be darned if I can figure out how to back it up on a disk in order to have a spare copy. And I am NOT typing all this up without the ability to make myself a copy...just is not going to happen.

So then I thought, I will create myself a database thingy using the database thingy that is within OpenOffice. (And if you don't know what OpenOffice is, it is free software comparable to Microsoft Office...ONLY IT'S FREE!!!!!.)

After much effort, and much googling for just exactly what is a database, I think it safe to say I WILL NOT BE "CREATING" ONE OF THOSE THINGS!!!"

So my question....anyone have any recommendations for recipe organizing software, preferrable not expensive, and by not expensive I mean under $25. I mostly care about being able to back things up....juuuuuust in case. And I want it to print nicely, not in a clob. Basically what will happen is I will take all these pieces of paper, type them up neatly in software, then get or make some pretty(hopefully) cards and print them all back out in a pile again....

I know some recipe software come with other features, like creating a grocery list, but I can do that the old fashion way... I don't have to have a bunch of fancy extras in that respect. There is some I am sure are really nice, but the budget does not call for recipe software at all, much less expensive recipe software...

    So anyway, any suggestions

I tried that one and it would not work on my computer, but it does look like nice software. I think I probably explored the free options on line and struck out because they would not work on my computer, not sure why, though I did get error messages, just don't know what the meant.

I am playing with the whole data base thing, but went from recipes to address book...just to learn it. I found a tutorial on line for free that I am going through.

I prefer an A4 flip-file (or hardcover book ) for my recipes

I am not so much in a cranky mood. I am working in OpenOffice.org "Impress" I think it is called, their presentation thingy....not named after any presentation I have made....

But...I am figuring out how to get a recipe card in there, one that can then just be typed up. Made a couple with just backgrounds and stuff and now working on an actual recipe, which required I find a picture of a banana....lol

It would be the blind leading the blind....lol

But I will have blank card I would be happy to send....of course that would require one of us figuring out how to do that....

If you downloaded the OpenOffice.org suit, then I would think I could send you the presentation, and you could then, using the backgrounds and stuff, put your recipes in. And make request for any particular type background you might want. I have lots of clip art stuff....of course I have come to understand that it is not possible to have enough clip art...lol

I have not had any issues with the software, other than my lack of talent in using it. But it seems to be pretty well used. The place my son works has it on their business computers. It is like MicroS office, but sept it's FREE!!!. Here is the site, so you guys can check it out if you want to...sometimes their site is a little quirky though
