    Re: Statistics show......that.

Hello, I have done a small survey, and one of the things I have learnt about doing this thread, amongst others is to put what your points are in an A,B,C, order.

This is the percentage of people staying over 30 seconds on three of my sites.

    A.journal77.com 19%

    B.Christian77.com 39%

    C.Christian.journal77.com 72%

so looking at these figures, C has done best because it say's who you are, then what you're doing on the site as a Christian. Alan

Remember "B" is brand new so it will take some time before that one starts to pick up.

Yes I do agree with what you're saying about (B), some times there are things staring you in the face.

Take Bible forums for instance, people know straight away what the site is by its name, as you do with Webnet77.

    (A) has been going for a quite a while now,so the name (B) Christian77 will do better, and is already doing so.

Having said all that I remembered the story of my Dad coming to visit us in Wales were we live about 30 years ago. One day I was showing him a small electronic or digital heart monitor I used to check how my heart was doing. The reason I had purchased this piece of equipment was on the recommendation of a practitioner helping with my back condition, his theory was the food I eat had a relation to how I was feeling with regard pain. Which I found to be true, and the heart monitor would help to somehow monitor the situation by the speed of my heart. My heart would beat faster if the food didn't agree with me.Well my Dad said this was a step to far and wasn't a healthy way of living constantly checking my heart every time I eat.So for once or several times in my life I took note of what he said. Statistics Show...that you can easily stop a thread by talking about what your Father said in relation to the topic of the post. People don't like to contradict because they are normally polite, so they say nothing. Now the only thing I haven't brought or one of the many things not brought into this post thread is the kitchen sink, now our kitchen sink is now 41 years old, I think in modern-day standards,it's quite good. It just shows how tolerant my Wife is, not wanting or should I say not being able to have a new one, along with a new kitchen. That statistic shows I'm married to the right women, thank God for that. ( it's not because I'm tight either )You might be asking what has this got to do with Website stuff in the forums section.I don't Know, but there's a link in there somewhere.Alan

There's an old Russian proverb that goes "Having a faithful wife and good cabbage soup, seek not other things".

Yes, those of us married for many years to a good woman are truly blessed!

Talking about old Russian proverbs, we have been on the sharp end of their cold weather this week. So much so it has stopped a lot of people going out this week it's been so cold. That included me,very grateful for our central heating and the way the British government has helped people all over the country, wonderful.
Hundreds of people have died this week in Europe because of the cold weather,I haven't heard anything of Russia though, apart from, it's been reported in the centre of Moscow being -20 below freezing.
Carrying on with this thread, I have been experimenting with two of my websites, trying out bbPress and BuddyPress, the first is very light in the sense most of the work is done on the front end of site, while the latter you have to go to the back-end to post etc.. Both have very good aspects of use and look, and it will be interesting to see what becomes. I must say the choice of installs like these two is tremendous, all done from my control panel, enough to keep anyone going for years to come.
I have been a bit concerned this week about Dup, he found a body in his grounds, so he buried it there and unfortunately the dingo's are trying to dig it up. So I am looking forward to watching the next episode of "Wild at Heart" on the TV,filmed in South Africa.I find pleasure in matters of no consequence.
So on the both site's people can post or comment on the stories, and hopefully after changing the settings, I wont have any trouble? Alan

    Re: Statistics show......that.

Many years ago my Father had a plot, a plot of land called an allotment, were he would grow vegetables and flowers. He had become an expert on flowers and veg over many years, he did enjoy going and working there and sitting in his little shed and having a cup of tea. Also meeting and talking with his fellow allotment goers, enjoying the country side in the middle of the city.
Around the turn of the century I had a dream, now you might be thinking what's this got to do with this post. If you read on perhaps it will come more apparent,Now at this time we belonged to a group of people who believed that on a certain date around the year 2000,the second coming would take place.
This is the dream, we were on a large engine powered ship, and we were heading for Black rocks, and on these black rocks, were large black birds.I was stood on deck, with a mast to my back, I turned and could see who was steering this ship.( it was the leader of the group of people we belonged too.)Then looking out beyond the ship I could see a sailing ship, it was a sailed ship, much like the Cutty Sark, white in colour weaving in and out of the dangerous rocks. This is the ship we should have been on.
For sometime now I have known after writing a story called "time to come in"
That my writing should be within Christian Message board, and the illustration of turning an outside tap off,(we have in our drive way),from inside my house, because winter was coming.
So it was time to put this into action, the first thing was to decide which website I would keep out of the numerous ones I have, I decided to keep journal77 and try to incorporate everything except open blogging or web blogging, on the site.So I redirected the sub domains to journal77 and the one domain name, Christian77, then proceeded to delete the sites. The purpose for journal77 has been for a while now, to write, study the Bible, and post to Bibleforums.
The day on doing this, that night I had a dream, in the dream my Wife and I were sitting in a small sailing craft, then from the right hand side, the bow of a large wooden sailing craft, towering over us, began to slowly merge into our craft. We then sailed off as one, much like a Cutty Sark ship, it was white in colour. Then I was shown a picture of people standing and talking on the wooden deck of a large ship with safety railing on the sides.
So after all that's been said, in this post and threads, my course has been changed, Alan

    Re: Statistics show......that.

I don't know what it is but I enjoy writing on the colour gold, I suppose that's why my website colour is the same. So writing now about a change of course in the last thread, brings back memories when I worked as a joiner last century. After many years working in a company, I was offered a position as a supervisor, this was certainly a change of course. One of the difficulties was when visiting a job, after talking to the lads, if they had a problem with the work, it wouldn't take much for me to put my overalls on and get stuck in doing the work at hand. I was talking to a friend this week, and I explained how I had a problem not doing my own stories on my own website.I have been promoting Bibleforums, I am also promoting some one else on a very well made program, DokuWiki. To change course, it some times takes a conscious decision to do so. After making the decision there was a release, if that makes sense, I suppose its easier to go along with what we believe to be the will of God, than fight against it, in turn this opens new doors of blessings. My conscience wouldn't allow me to write where I was not supposed too, I put a story of Pastor Kens on the DokuWiki, then a small section of my own, this is where my conscience wouldn't allow me to leave it there, my own writing that is. Once removed my conscience eased and I knew I had done right. Then the words came because of my action, The lord is very pleased and It would be ok to put my drawings and pictures on site ( which I had been considering) in a wonderful program from my Webnet77 control panel called ZenPhoto. Now all what I am saying could be all different, I have a free will, I could continue to write on site and it would be ok, but I wouldn't have heard those words, saying, The Lord is very pleased. So the effect of being obedient has great benefits for the Kingdom and peace for my conscience. My friend whom I had been talking to understood having seen it in his time in the Fire brigade, when a colleague would be promoted to a leader's job, found it difficult to stand back and delegate without doing the job himself. Re: Statistics show......that.

Hello, last week having written my thread to post, here in website stuff, what tends to happen is I have loads of mistakes. So I decided I need to write and save it first, then look at it again the next day, correcting all the faults I can see before posting it.That's the beauty of blogging here on Bibleforums you can rectify mistakes any time into the reasonable future.Unlike the forums were there is only a short time to correct any faults, which is also very reasonable, I'm very agreeable aren't I. So I decided to install Wordpress again on my website, and put it in an iframe, So that way I could save my work privately before checking and posting it here. The only thing is, although WP press is a very good piece of software, you cannot login to it in an iframe. So I googled it, asking why I can't login into an iframe with WP, the answer was they don't do iframes, as they are out dated, so that doesn't say much for my site which relies heavily on frames. The words that came to me,were, they are arrogant, and I don't think those were my words either. So I made my way to the bottom of the list of blogging software in my control panel, and replaced WP with a blogger called Chyrp, and it suits me fine doing the job I want it to do, I am now able to login to Chryp using an iframe. So now I can write, save and publish here when I'm ready. Thus putting less pressure on myself, with a percentage of assurance that my writing will go into the future reasonably correct, that's a bit long-winded isn't it. Alan

P.S. I have only just realised that there is a reamer word in this thread to-day, if you go to Church this week you will hear it.I will give you a clue were to find it, the Apostle Paul was under house arrest there were they lived, Jesus became a man then under Jewish traditional law.

    Re: Statistics show......that.

Hello, were was I before I was rudely interrupted, I have been sailing in strange waters for a while. Since 1999 I have been a home carer and my life changed in so many ways looking after my Late Mother and then my Wife. Little did I realise I would find a new interest computerizing and not only that by joining Webnet77 in the sense of running a website and writing on CMB, I would enter into such a depth of experience I would never have guessed. By signing up I was to begin a new work that would lead to meeting God's people in a different way, and therefore not being left isolated at home. The server I am on is being upgraded soon, even this communication has spurred me on to keep developing my website, because it's not just a communication, there are relationships of friendship there.I wrote in this on going story about using Word Press in a frame, well this week I installed WP again in a frame and lo and behold you can now log in and out the frame, great, so now I have best of both worlds. I can use my home-made site incorporating Word press into it. I have also put Joomla onto a page, and when I'm ready I can study to see how that works with out rushing, there seems to be a more relaxed view on my half not to get everything finished and move onto the next project.Alan

Glad to hear you remain positive brother. It's easy to see our own woes and that of the world. Too easy. We so often forget to count our blessings in the little things in life... and we need to do that every day

    Re: Statistics show......that.

Hello, this what I posted this week in the prayer forum......

Hello, I would like to ask for prayer for a small forum I have started. It's open for anyone to join, suddenly your dealing with real people and therefore you have to make decisions on what people enter as posts. We have been given the wherewith all to do the job by our learning here and with Webnet77's software given to use.I think the reason for asking for prayer to-day is a post yesterday which I had to finally make a decision on to delete. Then this morning a well written post with under tones of we are going to take over here. I was going to say I wish you'd hurry up it would save me a lot of hassle, of course it's not a hassle but, but I feel a responsibility to do things the right way. So that's why I am asking for prayer, there are according to the software statistics 2.5 people a day joining, I don't now who the half people are though, I don't want them to look up to me and me look down on them. I wasn't going to write that, any way you now who they should look up too, Kind Regards Alan
Hello, this is my first week running this forum, yesterday someone put a post in that contained malware. So I had to go back to the drawing board so to speak and reload the whole site. I wasn't prepared, I allowed anyone to register as a member, then when I was viewing a new members post Google interrupted to say this site journal77 has malware and phishing bugs in there post, which is dangerous and could infect my own computer, and not to return to the site.So I un-installed the site and have started a new install of journal77. My apologies to any genuine members who have been deleted from the site. One aspect of many of the members was to advertise their own sites, and not write anything but words between links, and some not even that, this is partly my fault, which in turn brought in the malware by one particular member. I have to figure away with the aid of the sites admin section to control this, so it doesn't happen again.

I have installed Small Machine Forum on my main domain journal77.com and above is what I posted to-day after re installing the software on journal77 to try to explain the sequence of events leading up to the new install. Alan

    Few things I'd suggest:

    1. make sure your admin password is strong ... UPPER + lower + numbers + at least one character like {}[].?
    2. If your site is script based, (like Wordpress) make sure you regularly update the software to the latest version.
    3. Probably most important - be very careful of the plugins you install. There is no vetting process for plugins and you can so easily install something that puts your entire site at risk. Always do a due diligence on any plugin before using it.
