I'm sorry but you just said "Skyrim" which is only my favorite game so I'm afraid I didn't hear anything else you just said.

I have all the dragon bone one man can carry, an enchanted helm of the finest ebony...a daedric sword that is quite literally legendary...but its all for nothing, as i stand outside my home missing my wife Lydia...she was killed by a litch and all I got was some stupid mask...thats what i get for helping some nord ghost.

    in memory of Lydia (2011-2012)

Yep, "keeping Lydia alive" does become a game within a game, doesn't it?

You probably killed her. Cause NPCs can't kill your companions.

Don't you feel all kinds of better now?

Thank goodness for frequent saves and reloads is all I'm gonna say about that ...

And if it'll make you feel any better ... she is quite a squishy, for all the toughy trash talking she does. Just sayin.

Our understanding of love and, subsequently, what it means to be Christ-like varies, even among Christians. Maybe you misunderstood. Maybe we misunderstood you. Based on your posts you seem to have a good grasp of how God wants us to love each other. I think your point was that even Christians, who supposedly have Christ's love working in them through the Holy Spirit, don't seem to have the perfect love for each other that we can, as you said, "imagine." And you're right, we don't. We don't each love God and each other as genuinely and perfectly as He loves us. And because we don't (speaking of man in general here) we're not in the koinonia relationship He desires for us to be.

He did, however, provide a way of Himself (because He's also a relational being), to bring us back in to that type of communion with Him and each other. And when we enter into that relationship we find that more and more we want to love others more perfectly, like He loves us, and that we want others in that relationship, too.

Anyway, this is probably where we start to differ in beliefs. And I must be off to work, so I'll spare you my thoughts and perhaps save them for another day.

somehow I missed this post. koinonia, I have never heard this one before I had to look it up. Haha I dont know that I'd be a better discussion partner, but I do appreciate it when ideas are put together in a way that resonates with me. Anyway, yes I'm sure we have reached a point where our view begin to deviate, but I'm game to talk about it whenever you are.

Yeah, koinonia. I hadn't heard it either until about 10 yrs ago when I read a paper a friend of mine had written on it. It really made me realize that our relationship with God isn't just about us (me) and God. And I knew that already, but somehow words like "fellowship" never struck the chord with me that they should have. For me they lacked the meaning and depth that they intend. Fellowship was just little more than a pot-luck dinner with church members every few Sundays. And then I read his paper and so many things came together for me. All of a sudden the 10 commandments weren't just laws that I needed to obey to please God... they were there, among other things, to show us how to live peaceably with, and love, each other, and it was important to God for us to do this. God isn't so much interested in our "sin" as we often understand it, rather He is interested in us loving each other and always has been. Or, to put it another way... anytime we're not loving our neighbor, we're sinning. I could go on and on about living in relationship to God and each other and, well, all of creation, but there is not enough time in the night. Suffice it to say that back then even the word "communion" didn't have the impact on me it does now.

Anyway... yeah, koinonia - Unity with God, with each other, and so much more...
