Thread: I have a question about taxes

I have a question about taxes

I haven't done my taxes yet, but am debating on doing it on my own thru H&R block. Is it hard? Is there a help line or something I could use if I had questions? Would the fact I'm living in one state but haven't changed my driver's license yet matter?

Ok, so I went on the H&R block website and did the calculate deal, but on there, there are many slots that dont let you put in the decimal signs so do you round them up or down? How does that work? Or maybe i"m doing something wrong.

Is your income pretty straight-forward, as in a regular paycheck? Or do you have several incomes or are you involved in business. And then, how many dependents will you be claiming, and are you buying a house etc?

Unless you feel the need to itemize your deductions you might save yourself a couple bucks by just filing on your own. It doesn't take long at all, and the forms are pretty much self-explanatory.

thank you for replying. I have two jobs, do I just add them together when I fill out the forms? I live in an apartment, single, I get paid once a month at the part time job, every two weeks at my full time job. Paychecks aren't the same every time due to sometimes working longer hours. Will that make a difference?

    Actually you do, yes.

Naw. It's all just added up to a yearly total gross pay.

You should receive or have received W2 forms from each of your employers. You send a copy of each with your tax form.

I have another question too. I did the tax calculator/tips deal to try it out, and where you put in your tax info or the interest for the college loan, it doesn't let you put in the decimal point (for example: 2004.35) so do you round up or down or did I do that wrong? i got a tax deal thing back from my college loan with the interest I paid on it. It won't let me put in the decimal point for that too on there. Will it be that way on the actual form for taxes? Or just on the calculator part that I tried?

I would suggest rounding to the (example) 2004. I haven't dealt with that but it seems to make sense to round - if your decimal goes beyond .50 go to the next highest dollar.

    Methinks.
