    But if it's "Isaiah 53's suffering servant" why wouldn't Isaiah 53 itself contain any references to John the Baptist and Paul? What I'd really like you to do is show me how Isaiah 53 is about anyone but Jesus. It is quoted several times in the NT as pertaining to Jesus.

    So even though it's the same servant in ch. 49 as it is in ch. 53, you think it's okay that Paul attributes ch. 49 to himself, and the gospel authors attribute ch. 53 to Jesus? That doesn't say to you, "Hey, maybe this servant character isn't Jesus after all... maybe something else is going on here"?

    I never agreed that Paul attributed Isaiah 49 to himself. I believe Isaiah 49 and Isaiah 53 both apply to Jesus.
