So to express an honest doubt disqualifies one from being Christian? Wow, that's a lot of people (although most may not be brave enough to admit it).

If you don't believe Jesus is alive today (in whatever type of body ... but as HIMSELF and not "dispersed" in other people) ... how can you be a Christian? A Christian by definition is a disciple and follower of Jesus Christ. If Jesus doesn't exist as Himself ... how can you follow Him? How can you believe in Him if you believe there isn't really a "Him"?

My Mom seems to think that Peter walking on the water was symbolic for how we are to walk by faith and not by sight and the consequences of each. I however, believe that Peter literally walked on the water just as it was written. What do you guys think ?

I'm guessing this is a serious question. I would think if walking on the water (sea) is taken as being symbolic then Peter's sinking in the water would also be symbolic. In this his sinking would be symbolic of his indecision of what to believe. 'You of little faith, why do you doubt'. As mentioned in pervious post water (sea) is symbolic of gentile nations which know not God and have been carried away with every wind of doctrines.

There is nothing wrong with analyzing. Some of us are analytical people by nature. No need to feel about that. Let your mind think freely. If some things don't make sense, ask questions until you get answers you can live with. Don't feel obligated to swallow something that doesn't feel right.
