Thread: I just don't get this....

  1. #1

Question I just don't get this....

There are some Christians that say "If your not 'Married' with a 'Certificate', then you are going to go hell."

Let me start off by saying, a friend of mine can't get married leagally, ie. through the courts, so he had a Pastor married him and his wife in the Church in front of the Congregation. They both are on government checks and they can't work because of thier disability where they can't work.

Are they "really" living in SIN even if a Pastor married them?

By the way, the Pastor knows thier problem and he checked the his Elders and they all said it was OK to do this because of thier disability.

I know what it says in Deuteronomy 1:17 Do not show partiality in judging; hear both small and great alike. Do not be afraid of any man, for judgment belongs to God. Bring me any case too hard for you, and I will hear it.

    Who's right and who's wrong?

    Separation between Church and State.

The only "advantage" to a state sanctioned marriage is enjoying the benefits of the laws of marriage. (insurance, taxes)

Through faith, in the eyes of God and the Church, they have been wed.

Wow. I sure would love to see a scripture to back that up.

Since when does the 'state' not recognize a marriage by a pastor? And what does a disability have to do with getting a marriage license?
And it is not up to man, nor is it man's position to determine who goes to hell and who doesn't. That will be determined by the true Judge. All other 'judges' are tools of Satan trying to usurp God's authority.
All that aside, God looks at a person's heart. If the two have agreed to be married, and a pastor married them, then they're married, with or without a marriage license.
The only exception to this I can think of would be in regard to same sex marriage, which God would never consider legitimate to begin with.

It's not in the Bible. Judgment belongs to God and to God ONLY. No one else.

Why can't they get married legally?

If they get married "legally", will there government checks discontinue?

Yes, right now they get close to 1,800 a month together. If the get "legally" married, they will get only 300 a month together. They will loose 1,500 a month and they will also lose thier insurances as well.

There might be a dilemma there. Maybe a matter of conviction and conscience. I have my opinion based on conviction to myself that I would be sinning. However, I don't know if I can or could say emphatically that it is true in ALL cases. In mine alone, it would be.

The law is there to 'protect' you
In-case of a divorce,,,, the law steps in for the protection of the different parties.,,..if people were just living together, (That is what the law sees people just being married by a pastor as..) they can not call on the law for assistance....

In our country, when people are living together, after some time, it is seen as "Common -law -marriage" and in the case of a divorce, you have the same rights as if you were legally married
Fenris: "There are two ways to shoot an arrow into a bulls-eye You can shoot the arrow into the bulls-eye or you can shoot the arrow and paint the bulls-eye wherever it hits"

Romans 12:19 Don't seek revenge ... give place to God's wrath. For it is written "Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord"

    Isa. 30:32
And every blow of the rod of punishment, which the Lord will lay on him, will be with the music of tambourines and lyres; And in battles, brandishing weapons, He will fight them

G_d was gracious He has shown favor

What are you willing to die for? Now live for it!

So then just toss out the Bible when we can't line up our beliefs with it? Pretty sad.

These types of questions are always designed to stroke the ego of the offender and silence the conscience so that the asker can go their merry way feeling guilt free. Sooner or later some carnal "Christian" will say something to assuage the guilt associated with rebellion against God.
Some of these pastors ought to be booted from the ministry on the grounds of malpractice the same way a doctor would be if they suppressed the test results of a cancer consumed patient.

    No, what I am trying to say is that no body can say that I am going to heaven or hell and that it blongs to God only. As I said in my first post, there is a passage that says;

Deuteronomy 1:17 Do not show partiality in judging; hear both small and great alike. Do not be afraid of any man, for judgment belongs to God. Bring me any case too hard for you, and I will hear it.

It states that judgment blongs to God not to man.

What I am concerned about is that this one person is about to become a pastor of a church and I really don't want to attend there because of the judgment of man not God.

That's not completely true. I can't judge your eternity, only God can but I can judge your fruit and call you out for what you are. For example, If someone does not believe Jesus is Saviour and Lord - then I can judge him/her as an unbeliever, etc, etc, etc

What I am saying is that no bode can say that you are going to hell or that you are going to heaven. God is the ONLY one that can say that. Man can judge on man's work but they can't judge on which way you or any one of us are going. Judgment belongs to God.
