Hear the word of the Lord, O nations, and declare it on the islands from afar, and say, "He Who scattered Israel will gather them together and watch them as a shepherd his flock."
Jeremiah 31:9

I think the point of the article was to show that the Messiah ben Joesph motif was around before Jesus. Thats what i got anyway
this is a Hebrew scholar's take on the same article.

One could ask why you hate Fenris. But that would be ridiculous, right?Originally Posted by rejoice44

I'm not sure why this is just now hitting that blog today, when the stone has been controversial (and in the news) for a couple of years now. The blog doesn't add anything new to the debate.

If we want a real debate on the Dead Sea Scrolls, we'd get into the combination of 4Q521 and 4Q285.

Twelve is the number of government. Thus, it is quite apropos that I am on my way towards wielding the power of twelve bars - each bar like, say, a tribe.....or a star.....or, maybe an apostle. A blue apostle. Like apostle smurfs. Does anyone remember smurfs? And all the controversy about them being from the devil? It's probably bad that I juxtaposed "apostle" and "smurf" in the same sentence. But then, I probably lost you at "blue apostle". Yes, my friends, this is what "rare jewel of a person" is actually implying. "Rare Jewel of a Person" really means, "Potentially Insane".
Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu gave a speech on Yom HaShoah, the Holocaust memorial day. He ended it with those two phrases-
עַם יִשְרָאֵל חַי
"The people of Israel live"
and
נֵצַח יִשְׂרָאֵל לֹא יְשַׁקֵּר
"The Eternal of Israel does not lie". (1 Samuel 15:29)
He sometimes ends speeches with lines from the bible, and I enjoy that very much.

Ah ha!
The people of Israel - nice!
Thanks much![]()

The article was about a suffering messiah, this was known as Messiah ben Joesph whether or not he had to be a direct descendent of Joesph i'm not so sure, i think the motif was more concerned about the rejection of Joesph and the eventual restoration. But anyways it old stuff..still interesting though.
The " Messiah ben Joesph" isn't a "suffering messiah". According to legend, he's a Jewish leader killed in battle.
If he's not, why call him "Messiah ben Joesph"?whether or not he had to be a direct descendent of Joesph i'm not so sure
