He's in surgery now

Please pray for my uncle Michael, he is in surgery for a lung transplant. He has a genetic lung disease that my aunt also had and passed away from about 2 yrs ago. He has been on oxygen for almost 3 yrs, and without the surgery he would not live much longer either. With the surgery he could live for decades longer, but there is only a 50 percent chance he will survive the surgery.

Please pray for him, his family, his two surviving sisters and brothers (neither of who are saved), and his mom. They are all extremely close. And pray for the family who lost a loved one. Please pray that God would be glorified in all of this. Thank you.

Well, apparently they didn't start the surgery as planned. The lungs may not be a good fit... I guess they're still trying to make that determination. Thanks for your continued prayers.

Ok, they've decided to go on with the surgery and have now started the procedure.

Frances: According to my cousin, he has professed faith in Jesus. I live 14 hrs away and have only seen him once briefly in the last few years, but have no reason to doubt it. I know this - he is a very loving son/husband/father/brother, and his family, and no doubt his friends, adore him. My daughter spent a week with them last summer and she gushed with affection, talking to me about him when she got back home. She's very concerned for him (and his step daughter and wife) as they go forward with this.

Thanks for all of the prayers for my uncle.

He made it out of surgery and did really well for the first several days. He started breathing on his own the day after surgery and they took him off of the ventilator. That same night he ate spaghetti and drank iced tea. His recovery, up to that point and for a couple of more days, was remarkable. Then he began to have some issues with not being able to clear fluid in the lungs, and also with digestion. Yesterday his blood pressure started dropping and they moved him back into the ICU. I'm praying he will begin to do better again.

The other concern now is whether his body will reject the new lungs or not. Only time will tell.
