    Conquering Fear

    I am saved, I pray, I believe without reservation that God can do anything and that he is in control. So why then do I still have fear about worrisome situations in my life? I acknowledge that I have both a human self and a spiritual self and I see this as a conflit between the two. I am living with fear and anxiety right now because of a situation regarding my husband. Why, if I am a true believer, can I not give it to God in prayer and live my life without this overwhelming sense of dread and fear every day? Is that an indication that my faith is not as it should be? Or am I just human? Please share your opinions about this. Thank you.

    I struggle with dread too. Its hard living in light of eternity but to do so means every trouble we have has its own day of judgement before God. Then and there we find hope.

    Don't doubt your faith. Valuing hardship isn't alone a sign of weak faith. We value the cross for what it was and is. If it wasn't a big deal (now) it wouldn't show you value and meaning that could then glorify God. You'll be in my prayers.

    I've thought often about this, and I have found that our worries come from not knowing the future and feeling that your future is threatened. We know that something will change and we might not want that change. We do tend to be rut-lovers who want stability and assurances of the status-quo.

    Rom 8:28 And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.

    In order to make that real for me, I concentrate on making sure that I am fully a child of God, walking in His path and serving Him. I can then know that, no matter what happens, God will make it to be good for me in the end. Once in a while, I lose sight of that; but some quick prayer time helps bring me back.

    Our time on this earth is a merely blip on the screen of eternity, so it doesn't make sense to focus all our energy on worrying about tomorrow. God has that already working the way that He permits or desires. I do well to just enjoy today and praise God that He took care of me today.

    I don't think you should doubt your faith to Christ, nor your situation regarding your husband. What is bothering you is the fear and anxiety itself. You are battling with it, and I think you should recognizing that you are battling with yourself.

    Do you get your sleep time? Its very important to sleep allot, or else you are heading depression.
    Get out, and meet people. Evolve yourself in something you have fun with.
    Go often to Church.
    Fasting? Its like "schooling" your body to obey you, controlling you feelings like hunger, anger, fear, lusts.
    This is only matter of period so your get your mind of the bad thoughts...

    And one thing more. Stopp having fear! Read those verses...

    For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control. [2 Timothy 1:7]

    There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love. [1 John 4:18 ]

    For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. [Romans 8:15 ]

    fear not, for I am with you;
    be not dismayed, for I am your God;
    I will strengthen you, I will help you,
    I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. Isaiah 41:10

    For I, the Lord your God,
    hold your right hand;
    it is I who say to you, “Fear not,
    I am the one who helps you.” Isaiah 41:13

    For He Himself has said, "I will never leave you nor forsake you." So we may boldly say: "The LORD is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?"
    Hebrews 13:5

    It is one thing to trust God and know He's in control, and another thing to be accepting of His will.We are human, we have dreams and desires, and while we know that God is on our side, we know He doesn't always do things the way we would want Him to. It's is easy to trust Him during the "good times", but we all know He allows pain and heartache, sickness and death, and this is what we fear. We fear the control God has, not because we don't trust Him, but because we don't want to go through the valley. We don't want anything bad to happen, but we know how small and vulnerable we are in His mighty hand.That's a natural feeling imho, but as long as we know it will all work out good(because He has said it will), we need only stay close,where we can know His love will see us through anything.We will be reminded that we are forever safe under the shadow of His wing.

    I think it takes time to learn to trust God, it grows with each experience we go through. It's how trust is formed in any relationship. Seeing His faithfulness and love, in the valleys and the mountain top experiences in life, helps us to fully yield to His will.

    blessings to you

    Re: Conquering Fear

    Hi Lexie.

    I may be familiar with your current feelings because I lived and walked in similar circumstances, and for the most part still do live and walk daily in them.
    So, this might sound like it makes no sense toward what you are dealing with now, but I cannot explain what I do not understand myself still.

    I found peace and even joy from my sorrow, and from my doubt and from my hearts hurt n pain too and even from my own guilt or shame just by doing this:
    Find things around you minute by minute through out your days and nights, find things to be thankful for to God our Creator, just be and keep looking for things to be grateful and thankful of and then express that gratitude to Him everyday whether it be a good day or a bad day or a good season or a bad season, find things to be thankful for to Him everyday.
    ...It sure has been good medicine for me and has enabled me to hear God more clearly too.

    One important thing I cannot go by with out mentioning too is: wash yourself daily with His word, by reading His word in our bibles, even if just one verse a day, but do it daily....
    You will soon notice how different your days will go if you stop daily washing yourself in His word, things will get ugly fast again and disorder will begin to come quickly again instead of grace, peace and love.
    Again: only if it is one verse a day, just keep doing it even if you have to make a daily time to do it.

    Another thing you might consider giving a try is: to make it a practice of acknowledging God by saying or thinking of Him very-first thing we do in the morning and then again in the evening just-before you sit to rest or go to bed to sleep.
    Not saying these are the only times to do these things or the best times to do these things, but it has stabilize or smoothed or leveled my entire days and then my weeks and now my years... since I have been making a point of doing that there are now not as drastic of ups and downs in my life's walk, I still have many ups n downs daily, weekly, monthly but I do not have as drastic or extremes of the ups and downs anymore, I have more peace now and steady-harmony in my life's ups n downs now.
    Again I am not sharing that there is a good time of day or night to pray or think upon God, we shouldn't make traditions or rituals in praying or communing with God. But like I said it sure has smoothed or leveled my ups n downs in life, not taken them away but has leveled them into a manageable dose for me now.

    I will be praying with you, precious lamb.

    To a certain extend we all have worries in life that we have to overcome. The bible doesn’t promise us a worry free life, but it encourages us not to let the worries of life choke our faith.

    Sometimes I worry about the things of life too much as well, but I have found, that if I put Jesus at the centre of each day and make God the most important part of every day, God does the rest.

    Instead of trusting God to handle all those situations (which we both know He can) ... why don't you just trust Him to take care of you?

    Situations come and go ... God remains, you remain. Focus on the constant, and the temporary will usually get handled one way or the other. God promised He would take care of you, did He not?

    The neat thing is, He knows how to take care of 6,000,000 other people, too. All at once. Plus the universe and whatever else is out there. There you go. That's your Pappa for you.

    Is there anything too hard for the LORD?
    Even so, come Lord Jesus!

    2Co 10:3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh:
    2Co 10:4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds)
    2Co 10:5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
    Taking every thought captive means to depend upon the Lord rather than self. When there is something in our life or thoughts that are not lining up
    with the word of God, then usually the first reaction is to apply will power. Vowing that we will do better. This will fall flat everytime ending us back
    where we started in the first place. But if all those things are taken to the Lord, and He is trusted with the job of working in us the fruit of the Spirit,
    then our own vain efforts have no place.

    Maybe think about it in terms of being a vessel. The jar itself has no power, or any goodness of itself. It is just a clay jar. Say the potter has given
    that jar a will. It can now choose who fills it up. Self, which fills it up with things benefiting it's own kingdom. Demons, which only fill it up with
    things that benefit the kingdom of Satan. Or the Lord, which fills it up with things benefiting the Kingdom of God. In other words, the fruit of the
    spirit. It is our choice which fruit we allow in our vessel, and from which spirit.

    You're just human Lexie, as we all are. Being a Christian doesn't mean that we'll never experience worry, sorrow or pain. Our walk with God is a day to day living process .... not a "one-time happening and all is well" event. Our rest and peace comes to us in the surety of knowing that no matter what happens to us in this life, our heavenly Father is there right beside us beckoning for us to lean and trust in His promise that He will never leave us nor forsake us. Where our treasure is, there will our hearts be also. May your treasure be in knowing that our loving Father and God Himself will one day wipe every tear from our eyes. Do what is in your power to alleviate life's trying circumstances ..... and when you have done this much, simply leave the rest to Him. Lean on Him Lexie in the assurance that you are on the winning side. God bless you in Christ always my friend

    I struggle a lot with worry. Even though, deep down in my heart, I know that Christ has already seen everything. Meaning, the past, the present and whats to come. Why is it that I know that but still find worry in my heart? Why do I doubt, why don't I "laugh at the future to come" proverbs 31.. knowing that my God is in complete and total control of every situation, every circumstance? Those are the questions on my heart. We serve and live for a God that is endless. He doesn't need to rest, He doesn't become over whelemed with our problems, but He loves and He disciplines. He gave us new life when we were raised with Him. I pray that we realize that we have already been set free from fear, aniexty, doubts because our Savior has already died for all of that. I love you friend, trust in Christ and remain true to Him.
    Why are you searching for love? Why are you still looking as if I'm not enough?
