No sir that is not what the topic is.... The topic is why people do NOT submit to God.... Regardless of what you call Him and which part of the bible you read.... Or even what you call a bible....
It is simply asking why some folks don't want to submit to God and His supreme authority....

I agree I am pompous.
I agree that a person can, without conscious willfulness, fail to 'be convinced' by the NT that it is true.
However, if I can't speak to the implications of that, I'm not sure why that matters one iota. You have sought to define the scope of this thread, but I don't think you are the OP.
No part of the Bible says the lack of willfulness in sin makes it a non-sin. Otherwise, why are the Israelites sacrficicing for unconscious sins? For example:
In context, the individual untintentionally does wrong. Sounds unwillful to me. The priest brings guilt on the people out of his own sin. Sounds like the individual Israelites were not only unwillful but otherwise 'innocent' in that sin, yet, they have guilt upon them.Leviticus 4: 1 Then the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, 2 “Speak to the sons of Israel, saying, ‘If a person sins unintentionally in any of the things which the LORD has commanded not to be done, and commits any of them, 3 if the anointed priest sins so as to bring guilt on the people, then let him offer to the LORD a bull without defect as a sin offering for the sin he has committed.
So, this principle is endemic in the Bible, as i also showed in the NT in past posts.
That said, I leave it to you to explain the implications of your point that a person who relies on their own intellect to understand and consider whether they will be 'persuaded' or 'convinced' by the NT can fail to be convinced in an unwillful way. i agree they can do that. I disagree that in the least absolves them of guilt. They will die in their sins.
Fen, when Jesus looks you in the eye and says, Eyelog quoted this scripture to you:
And you responded "shrug", don't you think He's going to hold you accountable?John 8:24
Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins; for unless you believe that I am He, you will die in your sins.”
Your defense that you were "unconvinced", as if God owes it to you to remove all doubt, will avail you nothing, friend.

A wise person once told me it is not our job to convince anyone.... It is only our job to tell them....
Now that we have informed Fenris of the Godship and Messiahship of Jesus Christ....
Can we move back to what makes people not want to submit to the authority of God?
Please?

No.... It makes them stubborn Jewish Rabbis! LOL! Sorry Fenris....
No sir.... But I think you have unconvincing and untrue mixed....
The fact is that your bible states people have become corrupted (not evil.... For there is a difference).... It states that none do good.... It states that each has gone his own way.... This is from your bible.... And I personally consider it the truth.... Whether it is a convincing one or not.... And I believe that people want to stay corrupted and that is why they refuse to submit to the authority of the Creator of the universe.... Even if you don't wish to call Him Jesus....

Great, two things we can agree on.
Gee, now you get to speak for God? Better and better.Fen, when Jesus looks you in the eye and says, Eyelog quoted this scripture to you:

Who are you, the thread police? However, if I can't speak to the implications of that, I'm not sure why that matters one iota. You have sought to define the scope of this thread, but I don't think you are the OP.
At issue is not whether one can commit sins without intent. At issue is whether one finding the bible unconvincing is willfully rejecting God. In your thinking on this subject, an accidental sin is the same as a willful sin. Which it is not.No part of the Bible says the lack of willfulness in sin makes it a non-sin. Otherwise, why are the Israelites sacrficicing for unconscious sins?

Look, if you had come with a contrite spirit, and if you were not summarily sweeping away the authority of the NT with your glib, knowing comments, you would not have been treated like this. It is fact you have bandied about all sorts of conclusory generalizations making unfounded charges about Scripture and Christ without entering into any substantive discussion on the real issues of this thread.
Now you want a pity party. If only Eyelog had been nicer, this time, in your personal 1 billionth post on this site, you finally would have given in and believed on Jesus.
Give us a break, please.
But if you want increased civility, quit demanding your right to spew your lies about Christ and His Word as nonchallantly as you sneeze in your hankerchief.
On the other hand, as unbeautiful as you think it makes me, your only hope is to encounter someone who won't be dunned by your knowing inuendos. You, the erudite Rabbi, who just so happens to be an expert on the NT he says convinces him of little.
Frankly, all that says is you don't understand it. But that's not suprising. Being a Rabbi does not come with annointing to read what only the HS elucidates.
You have so much knowledge, apparently. Yet, you think being 'convinced' is an intellectual enterprise. No. It is surrender to the Lord, letting Him have His way with your mind.
Only then might you have eyes to see, friend.
As for you Mary. Keep on coddling. It's all about good cop/bad cop, right?

OK Mod hat on:
No more jabs and snarky comments or personal attacks. Any more and posts start getting deleted.
This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.
Eyelog! You need a time out! Go to your room young man!
