How do you prepare for somebody's death?

I don't want to go into details, I don't know that they're relevant, but I was wondering how I go about preparing for the death of somebody? I don't think it will be long before they are dead, but I know somebody that is slowly killing themself. Do I just try to enjoy, as hard as that is at times, what little time I have left with this person? Do I kinda numb myself emotionally so that watching them slowly kill themself isn't as painful?

From experience I would say that it's much harder to sit by and wait/watch, than it is to lose the person. I don't believe we can prepare for a loved ones death either. We come to terms with the fact that this person will soon die, but imho, it still hits like an atom bomb when it happens. How can we prepare ourselves to miss someone? Anyone, who holds a piece of your heart, will take that piece with them when they go. The only comfort and hope we have, is from Jesus, who destroyed death for His followers. If we know that this loved one, has left behind suffering, and are now in the presence of God, then we weep for ourselves, but rejoice in their victory through Jesus.

Dying is a part of life, but it doesn't make it any easier. Trust Jesus, know that He will give you what you need, when you need it.Know that He will comfort you, like no one else can.

    blessings to you

Very Sorry ! I am not getting what you are saying , sorry !

The only thing I can say is to make sure the person knows they are saved.
And then you can explain to them were they are going ! To be home with God would be wonderful. And that it is Gods choice not yours.

I know I would love to go home ! As soon as I knew the truth, I wanted to leave this world!
But it is not my choice. It is God's .................

So if they do not know God you can try to explain . If they do not know you know, then you will have to hint kind of.

    Good to see you, Warrior!

At first I thought you were talking about someone dying from a terminal disease, but then you mentioned that the person is killing himself/herself. So I don't really know how to answer. Would you be comfortable clarifying?

This thread is actually from last year. And I don't think you'll be getting an answer from Warrior.
