I don't do zombies either so don't feel bad. And go wash those pants, will ya?

I'm seriously considering FF XIII-2 for my Mother's Day present this year. Any thoughts? It's only 4 short days away and there's a trip to Gamestop to be made.

I used to love Fallout. I wish there was a game like that I'd feel ok about playing nowadays.

I love the Nancy Drew mystery games.

    I love Zelda.

I love Super Mario Bros. 3

I play Adventure World and Hidden Chronicles on facebook, and Draw Something on my phone.

Bubble Bobble and Dr. Mario are some of my old favorites.

7 years ago I met my then-future husband on the message board for an online disney game we were both playing.

Oh, I like the DinerDash games too.

And way back in the day, I used to play those text adventure games. Those were fun, and I often feel nostalgic about them.

And some of the old LucasArts Indiana Jones games.

    MarioKart.

    RollerCoaster Tycoon.

I can't stop editing this post. I love video games.
    In Christ,
    Katie

Well supposedly square fixed all the things that people hated about FF13. Supposedly it is a bit more open, actually has towns to go to, etc. You might want to check the internet and save some coin. I think somewhere I just saw had a deal on it. The internet can be cool like that sometimes. I've been on the fence about this one. FF13 was a huge departure.

Edit to add: For me personally FF12 was the last great game for the PS2 and it was an epic ending to an epic game system. If Square ever came out with a direct sequel (Which I highly doubt that they ever will) It would be a day 1 purchase for me and I'd probably take a weeks vacation just to play it.

Then I am in good company! I really enjoyed the gambit system. I honestly wanted to see some progression with that in 13 but... hey! I liked using strategy to the gambits. Sometimes you really wouldn't have to do much. It was pretty much like creating your own AI. I really didn't understand the flak it got. I still haven't beat it to be honest. My bro has a ps2 collecting dust somewhere. I should borrow it and hammer that out.

My most played shooter in sheer hours is Left 4 Dead 2. Steam says about 750.

Have you seen or heard about any new information on the sequal? Because it's going to be madness. I wonder how much time I spent in the menu looking at loot or at various vending machines looking at loot. I did so many raids on general knox's armory that I knew exactly how long it would take to get there and roughly how long i would spend opening each chest. I used to glitch through the floor so I could do infinite raids without losing the mission.

Does this make me a sad individual? the humor is right up my alley.

Left for dead is an interesting topic. Around that time a zombie craze of sorts kicked off and everything was zombie this and that. It kind of put me off. I did play it albeit briefly and couldn't really get into it. I can see where it would be fun. You can't go wrong with 4 player co op.

I haven't played either FF XIII or FF XIII-2. Fans I've talked to have been very disapointed in both games though.

Nah I loved it. The sequel is a must-buy for me.

Even better is 4 vs 4 with teams taking turns being the zombies. Although it's difficult to find balanced teams.

It would be for the xbox of course.

Is FF one of those franchises where you have to kinda play the older ones to really fully understand the latter ones? How steep is the learning curve for the game mechanics? I do think we have FFIX or somesuch floating around somewhere and we do have a PS2 in the guest bedroom not being used so I could potentially try that on for size.

You can play Skyrim without ever having played any of the prior Elder Scrolls games and it stands on its own just fine. You would probably get a bit more enrichment from having played the priors and knowing the stories and characters and settings (especially when it comes to the books you find and read), but it's its own self-contained unit.

Having said that, it DID make me go out and purchase Oblivion just to play my way through it and see more of the story because I did manage to read each and every book found in Skyrim (I cheated and did it online though ) and found them rather entertaining.

I did play LA Noir about halfway through. Fascinating game, but not enough to hold my attention at the end of the day. I'd rather watch my son play it than play it myself. Having never played GTA it took a bit of time to get used to the game mechanics (and quit damaging my car beyond repair while driving around town). Hubby found Assassin's Creed difficult to get into because he never played the priors and so had a tough time with the game mechanics.

Wondering if FF is like that? Or not so much? Skyrim you could just kinda jump in and whack at things and figure it out as you went because the learning curve wasn't all that steep and I sure appreciated that. They did a really great job with their tutorial, especially for someone who hadn't held a controller in her hand for years and years. Amalur's tutorial didn't suck either. I appreciate getting my hand held a little before I go out there and fly on my own.

Ok that's a lot of rambling. Sorry!

Re: Video gamesssssssss (the co-ed thread)

The only games I've really played are (on PS2) in recent years:

    EASports NCAA Football (various years)
EASports Madden NFL Football (various years)
WWE SmackDown Here Comes The Pain (With a couple of created characters)
    Katamari Damacy

Haven't played in about 2 years as my PS2's better days are behind it. Considering a PS3, but jeez the games are expensive. Maybe I should go fishing more often.

Re: Video gamesssssssss (the co-ed thread)

FF XIII and FF III-2 kind of tie into each other as the characters in III-2 are continuing the story told in III. Be warned that while there are 10 possible "Endings" in III-2 they are all cliff hangers.

Before that all FF games were stand alone games with their own storyline and characters but many of the same concepts in each game to preserve a sort of continuity. You could play IX without ever having played a FF game before and not miss anything at all as it will stand for itself character, story and game system wise.

There is always a tutorial as you start the game and go through that will teach you how to do things so yes you can just fire it up and play without any worries that you will miss anything. It will hold your hand and guide you through it so no worries!

FF battles (At least the ones before XIII) are not real time. They are turn based. Western RPG's (Ala Skyrim, Oblivion, Kingdoms of Amalur) and JRPG's (FF, Chrono Trigger, Most older RPG's) are completely different in game play.

Don't expect the same kind of game experience when you play FF as when you played any of the Western RPG's or even WoW.

Turn based similar to Kingdom Hearts?

Re: Video gamesssssssss (the co-ed thread)

Nope sorry. Kingdom hearts is an Action/RPG and has a "Real Time" battle system. Real time battles Meaning you hit the button he swings the sword (Or key in this case right?) and the enemy is attacking you at the same time. You also get the chance to dodge, roll out of the way or block.

Turned based means that once a battle starts every character in your party (And then enemy) attack in turns. For example, a group of big monster dog faced ugly's
and your group are going to battle.
First either your group or the dog uglies will get a chance to attack first. If it's your group attacking you will pick each attack for each of your characters in your group (Attack, magic, heal, use item etc)
Then the attacks will take place.

-Then- it's the dog uglies turn and they will attack you in turn. If there are 5 of them they get 5 attacks.

You can watch gameplay video's of FF games on youtube that will show you what I mean a lot better than I can explain it.
