Far as RPGs go, Skyrim hands down. Then again I hadn't been playing RPGs since the days of Super NES so there's probably some variety missing. Kingdom of Amalur was also pretty good.

Also love the "Age of ..." PC games (Empires, Mythology). Played through pretty much all those, in god mode of course. Meteors, red trucks, blue sports cars and earthquakes? Yes please. Those ancient civilizations never knew what hit them.
Wow, you hit on some of my own favorite games. I've only played WoW since Ulduar days (hit 80 right after ToC came out), but I've got a couple awesome guilds and hang out and raid with them all the time now. (I mostly play Gorefiend-A and Bronzebeard-A/H with some Wyrmrest Accord-A/H thrown in if you want another in-game friend).

I'm still working on building my new computer so I haven't played Skyrim yet, but I loved Oblivion and I already have Skyrim anxiously waiting on the shelf. I love the "Age of..." games (still keep Age of Mythology loaded on my laptop for when I need a a fun rts fix), and kinda bridged into those games from the old Red Alert games; haven't played any of that series in forever though. I never did play Age of Empires 3, though I imagine it's also a lot of fun, and Age of Mythology and Age of Empires 2 have been tiding my over pretty well. I also love the Sims games: have all the Sims 2 expansions and started getting Sims 3, but my current computer can't handle it too well so again, it's waiting for my new computer. I've also got the first Assassin's Creed game loaded on my laptop and I'm loving the gameplay, clunky pc controls and all. Definitely looking forward to playing the rest of them and of course excited by what I've seen of Assassin's Creed 3.

I also have a Wii which varies from Just Dance to Kirby to Mario Kart with the family to random games I felt like playing. Loved Okami, and wish the handheld sequel had held out for the 3DS since all the loading screens and limited graphics didn't do much to help it live up to the original (especially the graphics, being half the selling point of the game and all).

Also, serious love for my DS/3DS. Favorite games would probably be the Phoenix Wright series, Professor Layton, Legend of Zelda (the train one was kinda eh, but the other two were a lot of fun), Kirby (but of course), and again, a bunch of random games. Ghost Trick, 999, and Castlevania also stand out in my memory as favorites. So Phoenix Wright if I absolutely had to pick a platform favorite, but I loved all the games I mentioned.
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

How are you liking the game so far? Good, Meh or Bad?

Graphics = amazing. Characters = way too pretty. Story line = quite interesting if rather contrived. Having monsters pop up every 10 seconds = hurts the exploring. Quests are quite confusing, as are the menus, items and battle mechanics. I'm just kind of hacking my way around at the moment.

It's all very ... dramatic and over the top, and very unapologetically so. I honestly haven't decided if I like it yet or not and am operating on sheer curiosity and that sense of discovery. Even so, I'm going to play through it and give it every chance to prove itself. Probably going to take me a good bit though because it's not a game I can spend more than a couple hours on at a time or my brain starts making some distinct buzzing noises where it's just a bit too much to all take in for very long.

It's really more of a movie that has some battle scenes and discovery to it. I wouldn't call it a true game in the most honest sense of the word. It just really lacks that freedom I'm used to from other games. There's more cut scenes than you can shake a stick at and they certainly dominate everything. So ... I'm completely out of my environment and it's going to just take some getting used to.

    Dani,

It's been a few more days. Have you gotten any more play time in? Are you liking the game now? Gotten used to the play style yet?

Haha no actually. I've actually been playing Oblivion which made me want to play Skyrim some more so there you go.

I did purchase Oblivion a number of months ago and it's been on my to-do list before FF ever came along. But I'll get back to FF again and then I'll post more.

It took me forever to beat Oblivion because I just -had- to explore every inch of land, every cave, every ruin, every town (And talk to everyone there) do every side quest etc. I don't know how many hours I racked up playing it but it was a lot!

And I enjoyed every minute of it.

Of course I took breaks from playing from time to time ( some of them lasting a month or two where I didn't play it or any other games at all) and finished off some other games in the mean time. A games got to be pretty fantastic or pretty short for me to finish the whole thing and Oblivion was on the fantastic side.

I'm showing my age a bit, but I like the old Nintendo 64 and original XBox games such as Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and the various permutations of Prince of Persia. I didn't, however, like the Majora's Mask version of Legend of Zelda because it was timed. Whenever I try to play a game that is timed, especially when there is a lot to do and figure out, I get more stressed out and anxious than if I can just explore and figure things out at my own pace. Besides, if you didn't get everything done and the final boss beat in the allotted time in Majora's Mask, the whole thing reset and all the progress you made is lost. I find that extremely frustrating and discouraging. Anyways, I also like the old 80's games, such as Galaga, Tetris, etc. I'm honestly not much of a game-player, but if I actually owned a game system, or a computer that could handle the more recent games, I bet that would change. God bless, and have a great day in the Lord!

Ummm........I probably shouldn't mention that I started my addiction...er....love of video games when my parents bought an Atari 2600 back in 1977 or 78 if a N64 is showing your age LOL. I don't remember exactly what games we had though.

Ahhhhh, we had a Coleciovision computer when I was a kid. The games looked like 8 Track tapes.
Either this man was, and is, the Son of God: or else a madman or something worse. You can shut Him up for a fool, you can spit at Him and kill Him as a demon; or you can fall at His feet and call Him Lord and God. But let us not come with any patronizing nonsense about His being a great human teacher. He has not left that open to us. He did not intend to.

    Oh, Hey Fenris!

Did you get Diablo III yet? If you did tell us how you like it! Did they get the servers ironed out?

It's ok. I started playing "video games" with Pong. One blip and two lines. On a "color" TV meaning it was black and green rather than black and white. The "remote control" was attached to the TV by wire, and all you could actually control were the brightness and the volume.

Our first TVs were all black and white. With the knob dials. We had about 3 channels (on a good day when the signal was clear and the antenna cooperated).

    Yep.
