using a mobile phone as a usb device

Does anyone know how to turn a cell phone into a mass storage device? It is recognized by the computer as new hardware but thats it. Do I need to download drivers for it somewhere?

How to use it depends on your phone. I remember my Blackberry would be recognized right away as a mass storage device, but not my iPhone. I don't know how Android devices react. In any case, if you search for apps named "USB" you should find something. I found an app for my iPhone that I used

So i am resurrecting this thread because I have pictures on a cell I can't send since my current carrier has no data plan. The only way to get them off is to get them from my phone to my computer. Do I need a blue tooth program? Is there another way to do that?

It would be useful to know a little more, like what sort of phone it is and what operating system it uses.

If you've got bluetooth on your phone and a bluetooth-enabled computer you can transfer them via bluetooth. If you can use the phone in mass storage mode you can copy them onto a computer. If you can connect it via wifi you can send them that way. If you don't have wifi but the phone supports it you can go to a Starbucks or McDonalds or some such and use their wifi.

What kind of phone is it? You may need to install drivers to your computer before it recognizes it.

I did some research and it seems the only way to do it is to have an sd card and I don't have one for my phone.

If your phone will support an SD card you can pick them up for next to nothing. An 8GB micro SD card from Amazon is a whisker under $6. Or visit your local Best Buy / Wally World etc and look for the cheapest one they do.

Are you positive your phone doesnt have a built in SD card? Most smart phones come with them preinstalled. What kind of phone is it?

I understand. And, it does not come with an equipped microSD - which you already knew. Just make sure you get a micro and not a mini or regular SD.
