    One Yahweh and two Fathers?

Has anyone heard of the idea that Jesus is the Yahweh of the OT, and the Father of whom Jesus speaks in the NT is not the Yahweh of the OT? Jesus’ Father is above him and not spoken of in the OT. So, Jesus is the Father of us all and Jesus’ Father is ??? I’m not really sure. Anyone heard of this before?

As a Christian you should know instinctively that this is terribly wrong !

The Father that Jesus spoke of in the new Testament was the God of the old Testament. The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. It is to this God that Jesus came to reconcile us to by making atonement for our sins and thus fulfilling the requirements of the Law. The name Yahweh is something that has crept in by taking advantage of the Hebrew roots movement and does not apply to either Jesus or God. All that name has done is sow confusion and introduce deceiving doctrines. The best advice I can give is to not look at any extra biblical writings when developing your doctrines. Doctrine needs to be based on scripture alone and when you find that names and concepts are not found in the actual scriptures themselves then just back away.

There is more than enough way out there information that is biblically based with out having to have to contend with other stuff being introduced that does not even appear in the bible anyway.

"I and my father are one." Do you believe this?

It sounds like you are referring to a variation or modification of the teaching ( horribly deformed and erroneous as it is ), that the God of the Old Testament is different from the God of the New Testament. This is a tenet of Gnosticism, particularly of Marcion. The difference between Marcion and what you are saying is that Marcion believed that Jesus came to reveal the true God, and to save us from the God of the Old Testament who Marcion viewed as a mean, capricious god

If this is what you are referring to, ( or a variation of it), it is a horrible, detestable heresy. Gnosticism, ( which Marcion's theology was very similar to) was very a very prevelant threat to the early church, but was denounced as a heresy. It seems to be reemerging again, though. Just the same old rehashed heresies. Here is a link to an article explaining the madness.

1 John 1:7- But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

2 Corinthians 7:1- Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.
