    Cleverly disguised and hidden things

    Gossip.
rakiyl Proverbs 20:19, nirgan Pro 16:28, halak Proverbs 11:12-13
psithyristēs Romans 1:29-32, periergos Timothy 5:12-13.
To be a whisperer, a gossiper, to slander, a slanderer, a tale bearer, an informer, to murmur, to backbite with words.
“one who reveals secrets, one who goes about as a talebearer or scandal-monger.” A gossiper is a person who has privileged information about people and proceeds to reveal that information to those who have no business knowing it.

Appropriate secret communication is not gossip, secrets are kept and not spread.
    Gossip is always spread.

One is a gossip when they will constantly/busily communicate something to others that they will not communicate to the subject of their communications face.
The communication does not have to be an embellishment or a lie to be gossip.

Eye rolls, smirks and whispers are always a gossiper's constant companions.
A gossiper's most used word is maybe, and they rarely honor their yes or no.
The qualifier is: constantly/busily communicating something to others that they will not communicate to the subject of their communications face.

Gossipers or whisperers, the root of their practice is cowardice...
Cowards are on our bible's short list of those who will in no way enter His Kingdom.

A dishonest man spreads strife, and a whisperer separates close friends.
Whoever goes about slandering reveals secrets; therefore do not associate with a simple babbler.
Besides that, they learn to be idlers, going about from house to house, and not only idlers, but also gossips and busybodies, saying what they should not.
The one who conceals hatred has lying lips, and whoever utters slander is a fool.
For every kind of beast and bird, of reptile and sea creature, can be tamed and has been tamed by mankind, but no human being can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison.

    Iniquity
    .

    avon Deuteronomy 5:9 - avah
It is a condition or state of being, it is not an act but a condition that causes us to act in error.
It is mostly abided under by us through the generations prior to us passing their traditions on to us.
But can also be a condition that we willfully come under by our returing to familiar sins over and over again.

We come out from underneath that condition of iniquity by following Chrst's words/His teachings and corrections.
We "must" know Christ's words for ourselves to come out from under the condition of iniquity.
We should not ignore the words of our pastors, teachers, elders and preachers, but we "must" test every thing, even test our pastors, teachers, elders and preacher's words, test them by and through Christ's words.

Jesus did not give us a warning that a few would come confessing Him to be Lord but inwardly are ravenous wolves, He said manywill come confessing that He is Lord but inwardly they are ravenous wolves.

The yeast of iniquity is risen in His church folks (this is nothing new), it was going on in His temple when Christ walked among us and still goes on today, there is no thing a man can do to rid this yeast from the batch.

So we "must" test all things before we recieve them to feed on and trust, we test them by and through Christ's words. And not trust men to teach His word's to us, but seek Him in His word's for ourselves.

This is what God calls diligently seek Him, and He promises to reward those who do !

If that offends any of our pastors, teachers, elders and preachers, then there is a reason it offends them and we should recognize them as wolves in sheep clothing, and leave it at that.
God will in His timing send His angels to separate the tares/weeds from the good wheat in His field/His church. Or separate the goats from the sheep, which ever way you choose to illustrate it, it still means that He will send His angels to do this, it is not our position to do it.
Our position is to know His words and test "all things" by and through His words, hence shining light on our and our fellow's paths that we may not fall into the pits that the devil has laid for us.

    Sinful

    chatta Gen 13:13 - chatta'ath, hamartōlos Luke 5:8 - hamartia - hamartanō
To cause sin, to cause sin in another, to bring sin with.

Sinfulness hides itself very effectively among us.
A buliding can be sinful, but a building cannot sin.
A television or radio broadcast can be sinful, but those broadcast cannot sin.
A teaching or tradition can be sinful, but a teaching or tradition cannot sin.
Those things can be sinful in that they can cause the people that inhabit the same environment to sin.

But, a man is blameworthy or has justified guilt when our error causes others in our environment to sin, even if we are unaware of our error. Our error induces or causes sin in others, and we bear the guilt of the affect, the sin we causes in others through our errors.

Much of men being sinful is not because we are aware of our own error but because we are not aware of our own error. (chiefly our own iniquity and abominations)
And, much of that sinful condition in us has came from the teachings and traditions handed down to us by our previous generations.
But, that does not leave us blamless, becuase when we are at the judgement seat of Christ on that Graet Day we will not be afforded the excuse of: well, that is what I was taught, Lord !
We "must" read our bibles for ourselves and spare our self the embarrassment of His retort to our excuse on that Great Day. (and of course avoid the eternal consequences also)

When I first became a christian I was just as much of a zealot for Him then as I am now still.
But, back then I just ran off unprepared by God to tesify of Him in my environment.
I was unprepared to tesify of Him because I was not studying His words to find Him in it, but just only trusted what was taught to me about God by other men in my environment.
Now after feeding on God's word for myself I can see now that what I shared back then was in error and I was being sinful in that I was actually spreading things in my environment that were not true about God and His ways and means, and those things that were not true about God caused those I shared it with to sin.
I am positive that because some of those that I shared with to sin because some of them also recieved what I shared with them with out checking it out in their bibles first before they recieved what I shared with them, and probably also ran off to spread those same error I shared with them and shared it in their environments.
...Just as I ran off to share what I recieved with out first checking my bible to test what I recieved from those who shared with me.
I caused others to sin by sharing my own errors with others, even though I was unaware that I was in error, I was still being sinful and will be held accountable for those that I caused to sin by my own error, and probably accountable for those that they caused to sin also by sharing the same error that I shared with them.

    Abomination
    .
    tow`ebah Deuteronomy 12:31, pigguwl Ezekiel 4:14, ba'ash Psalm 38:5, sheqets Leviticus 7:21 - shaqats - shiqquwts, bdelygma.
Foul in odor or appearance, detestable/exremely disagreable, unclean and filthy.
We are an abomination in the eyes of our God.

The only thing that covers up our true appearance from the eyes of our God is us abiding in Christ's words, teachings and correction.
Having faith in His words by responding to those words, by acting upon those words in our daily living.
Our confessions that "we believe in Christ" or "we abide in Christ" is not worth a pile of dirty used toilet paper folks, unless our actions and communication in our daily living match those same confessions.
Abiding in Christ is being obedient to His every word and staying/remaining/"abiding" obedient to His words.
But, we "must" know His words to become and remain obedient to those words, otherwise we are an abomination in the eyes of our God.

We "must" allow our God's Holy Spirit to teach us, we do this by feeding on God's words for ourselves (whether we understand what we read or not !) we "must" deposit those words in our minds for the Holy Spirit to amplify them to us for our understanding to work His will through us individually.
If we continue to depend on men to teach us God's word with out knowing God's words for ourselves to test the things that men teach us, then by deafult we are depending on men rather than depending on God.

Re: Cleverly disguised and hidden things

Isn't it a great thing that Christ brought us a way to live free from sin?
Jesus said, "And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." Then Jesus answered those who asked Him "free of what?", "Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin." (Jo 8:32, 34)
Christians are free to NOT commit sin!

I'm not trying to discount any portion of your post above, by me selecting only a portion to address.
For me, all of your post is good-true-correct.

But, this portion of it made me dance ! :

Re: Cleverly disguised and hidden things

To return to the OP, those are all good lessons for us. I would like to add that we MUST recognize those preachers who distort scriptures and teach "a different Gospel" than the one given to us in scriptures. Not only must we recognize them, we must ignore them and not heed their words. We will not know if the teacher is teaching us the wrong things if we do not know for ourselves what the scriptures actually say. I think the following verses support my belief:

Gal 1:8 But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed.
Gal 1:9 As we have said before, so now I say again: If anyone is preaching to you a gospel contrary to the one you received, let him be accursed.

2Co 11:3 But I am afraid that as the serpent deceived Eve by his cunning, your thoughts will be led astray from a sincere and pure devotion to Christ.
2Co 11:4 For if someone comes and proclaims another Jesus than the one we proclaimed, or if you receive a different spirit from the one you received, or if you accept a different gospel from the one you accepted, you put up with it readily enough.

Rev 2:1 "To the angel of the church in Ephesus write: 'The words of him who holds the seven stars in his right hand, who walks among the seven golden lampstands.
Rev 2:2 "'I know your works, your toil and your patient endurance, and how you cannot bear with those who are evil, but have tested those who call themselves apostles and are not, and found them to be false.
Rev 2:3 I know you are enduring patiently and bearing up for my name's sake, and you have not grown weary.
Rev 2:4 But I have this against you, that you have abandoned the love you had at first.
Rev 2:5 Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent, and do the works you did at first. If not, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place, unless you repent.

Rev 2:18 "And to the angel of the church in Thyatira write: 'The words of the Son of God, who has eyes like a flame of fire, and whose feet are like burnished bronze.
Rev 2:19 "'I know your works, your love and faith and service and patient endurance, and that your latter works exceed the first.
Rev 2:20 But I have this against you, that you tolerate that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess and is teaching and seducing my servants to practice sexual immorality and to eat food sacrificed to idols.
Rev 2:21 I gave her time to repent, but she refuses to repent of her sexual immorality.
Rev 2:22 Behold, I will throw her onto a sickbed, and those who commit adultery with her I will throw into great tribulation, unless they repent of her works,
Rev 2:23 and I will strike her children dead. And all the churches will know that I am he who searches mind and heart, and I will give to each of you according to your works.
Rev 2:24 But to the rest of you in Thyatira, who do not hold this teaching, who have not learned what some call the deep things of Satan, to you I say, I do not lay on you any other burden.
Rev 2:25 Only hold fast what you have until I come.

Hooah! You raise a great truth!!

Some people teach a gospel where once a person has accepted Christ, they are sinless. A type of sinless where the person who believes such a gospel claims that are without any sin and cannot sin any more.

Then how can this teaching be balanced with what Jesus teaches us here:

Matthew 18:15 “Moreover if your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault between you and him alone. If he hears you, you have gained your brother. 16 But if he will not hear, take with you one or two more, that ‘by the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.’ 17 And if he refuses to hear them, tell it to the church. But if he refuses even to hear the church, let him be to you like a heathen and a tax collector.

Such a teaching that a Christian is completely sinless and is without ANY sin, puts no meaning to this following scripture and prayer that Jesus explained as what prayer is to be like:

Matthew 6:9 In this manner, therefore, pray:

    Our Father in heaven,
    Hallowed be Your name.
    10 Your kingdom come.
    Your will be done
On earth as it is in heaven.
11 Give us this day our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts,
    As we forgive our debtors.
13 And do not lead us into temptation,
But deliver us from the evil one.
For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

Re: Cleverly disguised and hidden things

I apologize that I have to clarify that this tread is not to debate the way or means or the functional or dysfunctional ways in which God's servants minister, but this thread is only to show how:
"cleverly disguised "sin" is mingled among us"
...You man, you who have already archived on this web site that you will not even come to read on this thread of my co-work.
...You man, I have no fear of what men may or can do to me, because my Master has birth right of all-power, my Master can say word to a donkey or to a stone that will cause either the stone or the donkey to finish the co-work that I come and go to do.
...You man, I live to lay down my life for His word or for His sheep, which ever pleases Him to use me for !
...You man, all of the red type/print in this thread is for you !

    ~Do not quench the Spirit ~ 1 Thessalonians 5:19~

    ~
"So what hardship are you willing to endure, to see My will accomplished through you?"~

~Your relationship isn't knowing "ABOUT" GOD! Relationship is to "KNOW" GOD,
so that in the end and you stand before Him for the first time in heaven… HE KNOWS YOU~

~Do we, as Christians witness Jesus to the lost because we love Jesus? Or do we witness Jesus to the lost because we love them as Jesus loves them?~

~A prompting from God means that you are to DO. Thinking, causes you to... NOT DO!~

~Being on the tall mountain is where "you" go, to meet with God. Being in the deep valley is where "God" goes, to meet with you!~
