    Help Anxiety!!

I'm not sure where this belongs but I certainly could use your prayers. I am a 32 year old married woman who has a lovely 9 month old boy. I stay home most of the time and have a part-time evening job that pays well (heath field). My life looks pretty darn good from the outside.

The problem is that I am so anxious it's hard to enjoy life. A lot of my anxiety centers around being Christian enough and policing my thoughts so that they are what God would want. I listen to Christian music and preachers all day long because I feel like it will take away the anxiety but it never seems to do that.

I have become more of a believer after my son was born but I am also feeling anxious about it. Can anyone relate and what am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance.

I may be wrong, but it seems to me that you are not trusting Christ to have paid your penalty and to Forgive your repented Sin, and are therefore instead of allowing Him to change you as He sees fit, are trying too hard to change yourself. . .

I pray that you will rest, and relax, in Him and enjoy what is available for your family . . .

Can I suggest the book Crazy Love by Frances Chan. We are reading it for our womens bible study, and its good. It convicts you in all the right places and comforts you in others. Might help you with being "Christian enough". The book is all about Loving God and wanting to find our peace in him. I too have anxiety as a newer Christian, thinking I was not serving the Lord enough or in enough ways, or being like he would be, WWJD and everything. This book helped put whats important about being a Christian in perspective, and that our Love for God and Jesus is whats really important. Its ten bucks on Amazon I think. I really liked it, and it has videos you can go online and watch I believe. Check it out. In the meantime I will pray for you Meep.
    Peace to you,

    Re: Anxiety!!

God loves your socks off, even when you fail and are anxious.

Not that God wants anyone to be anxious.....just like you would not want your child to be anxious about displeasing you or failing you.

Christians don't have anything to be anxious about..... really.

The truth sets us free in every area, including anxiety.
It is God's job to tell you when to smarten up.
Let the Holy Spirit do His job.
He'll tell you where you need to improve, when God knows you're ready for the next lesson.

Listen, you are kept by the power of God....so why worry.

    Have faith in God.

Can't add one iota to spiritual growth by worrying.

The truth is ... He sees the finished product already.

He's not done with you yet.

I was once an anxious Christian too.

Faith in the truth delivers. Your God will supply all your needs, so reject the feelings with the facts.

Anxiety is just a feeling....you don't need to be afraid of feelings.

Jesus accepts you fully as you are, warts and all.

It's not your childs' job to develop into a fine citizen...but yours to correct him along the way, one lesson at a time, lest you discourage the lad.

God's got all the time in the world to bring you to the place He eventually has for you to occupy.

In my anxious stage I remember wondering if Jesus would leave me behind since my faith was so miserably weak.

Then Jesus broke that anxiety with a word.

"Rick, if I won't leave you now, I won't leave you then"

That's all I needed to hear.

Have faith my friend, in God.

I've actually seen women over due it. To much religion all at once. It does happen.
I say pick out your best radio spots and listen to them.
You may be yearning to write a book or learn a new skill or maybe join some group.
I always suggest first maybe volunteer or visit nursing homes and visit people that need comfort or a friend.

Luke 12:24-26--"Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds! 25 Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to your life? 26 Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest?"
"Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will dine with him, and he with Me."--Rev. 3:20.

I was thinking of a song when i read your post. Hope it is relevant to you. Hope you find peace through trusting in what Jesus did and not in what you have done or will do.

    Re: Anxiety!!

When I felt I wasn't trusting God enough or felt like I was suppose to be more than I was, I would quote Mark 9:24-"...Lord, I believe, help thou mine unbelief."
We don't ever have to be "good enough" for God. He is the only One truly good. He has made us righteous when we trust in His Son so we can rest in that. We won't ever "arrive" at that place where we are good enough. God already sees you as that in His eyes through Christ.
Enjoy that little boy of yours, a true gift. Count the blessings you see in every day. This gives glory to God. Cast your anxiety on Him and enjoy life! Praying for you!
.................The message of the cross divides the human race." ~MW~

........ ... " LORD, I beseech thee, let now thine ear be attentive to the prayer of thy servant..."
    .................................................. .................................................. ...Nehemiah 1:11a
