Thread: Online courses?

    Online courses?

This is going to sound strange, but I want to take some online Bible courses, possibly in Biblical womanhood (which I am very interested in). Does anyone have any resources? I don't want them for college credit or anything, just information in a controlled setting (ie no trolls)

Some universities offer freebie classes through Itunes university. I'm doing a class in Systematic Theology that I'm enjoying. I also have a class in Hermeneutics downloaded, but the theology class is slow going. It will be awhile before I get to it.

ETA: Most of the classes you can watch on any computer, but some of them have "course content" which requires a download from Ibooks which requires you own a I-something or other. I actually went to the darkside and got an Iphone, so I can do my class.

Be careful with those. There are actually a lot of free online classes available that claim to be biblically based, but you have to check out the source because many of them just end up being indoctrination into a particular "branch" of Christianity (or some cult-ish "pseudo version" thereof). So just ... tread carefully, and if you see nonsense being taught ... run away. Especially regarding the subject of womanhood, there's many false teachings out there that enjoy turning women into doormats and keeping us in a place of shame and/or guilt and subservience simply for being female as if we're somehow "broken" or there is something wrong with us just because we weren't privileged enough to have been born male.

Having said that, there's a free online video/MP3 series available that is offered by Gateway Church that has to do with freedom in Christ. Highly recommended. It's not really about womanhood but touches on all sorts of subjects. PM me for the link if you want, but you can access it through internet search just as easily. IMO you can't go over the basics enough, and I always highly welcome refreshers and reminders. So many out there wanting to go wider and/or further, when really, the solution is to just go deeper in God.
    Even so, come Lord Jesus!

All schools try to indoctinate. When I went to Catholic school they tried to indoctinate me with Catholic theology. When I went to a Mennonite college they tried to indoctinate me with Mennonite/Anabaptist theology. If you think they're not it's only because they happen to agree with your particular slant. However, the classes I'm taking are through Fuller Theological Seminary and Dallas Theological Seminary. Both are very reputable schools.
