    Göbekli Tepe and Noah's Flood

The oldest known archeological site of human habitation/history is Göbekli Tepe in south central Turkey. Archeologists place its date at 12,000 years old (10,000 BC). Interesting, the site is just south west of Mr. Ararat, where Noah's Ark landed after the Flood. But when was the Flood?

This ancient city is buried in sand? Could it have been burried by the sediments of the Great Flood?

Very interesting read! Thanks for sharing! I believe it could easily have been covered over by the sediment of the flood.

I am confused by the part in bold. To my knowledge, no one had ever conclusively determined which mountain the Ark is believed to have come to rest on?

According to Berosus, in the Deluge story of the Chaldeans, "It was under him that the Great Deluge took place, the history of which is told in the sacred documents as follows: Cronos (Ea) appeared to him in his sleep, and announced that on the fifteenth of the month of Daisios (the Assyrian month Sivan--a little before the summer solstice) all men should perish by a flood. He therefore commanded him to take the beginning, the middle, and the end of whatever was consigned to writing, and to bury it in the City of the Sun, at Sippara; then to build a vessel, and to enter it with his family and dearest friends; to place in this vessel provisions to eat and drink, and to cause animals, birds, and quadrupeds to enter it; lastly, to prepare everything, for navigation. And when Xisuthros inquired in what direction he should steer his bark, be was answered, 'toward the gods,' and enjoined to pray that good might come of it for men. Xisuthros obeyed, and constructed a vessel five stadia long and five broad; he collected all that had been prescribed to him, and embarked his wife, his children, and his intimate friends."

Genesis 8:4 and in the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, the ark came to rest on the mountains of Ararat.

A lot of investigation has been done to discover it. There are those who think that they have found it.

There is some dispute among scholars of the bible about a few years, but most give the date of the Great Flood as 1656 years after Adam. That would be about 4'400 years ago.

True, the Biblical Hebrew is literally "the mountains of Ararat". "Ararat" was a catch-all term at that time for an region that included Mt. Ararat proper, but could have been anywhere from Iraq to Armenia.

According to the traditional chronology, the flood occurred about 2350 BC.

Re: Göbekli Tepe and Noah's Flood

Short of having archaeologists and geologists (i.e. experts in those fields) confirm that flooding caused the location be buried in sand, I'm hesitant to accept someone's guess that it happened because of the Biblical flood.
