2Ti 2:20 But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour.
2Ti 2:21 If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work.
As I read this it occurs to me that here at least the vessels do not refer to the material we build with but instead it refers to us, "he shall be a vessel" but there is a condition as to what type of vessel we are depending on "If a man therefore purge himself from these,". But care must be taken not to try to judge ourselves by comparing ourselves with each to determine what type of vessel we are. The scripture doesn't say what type of vessel we will be if we cleanse ourselves from these ... just that we would be vessels fit for "the master's use." I don't think it is important to the Lord what type of material we are made of just that we are fit for His use. Cleansing ourselves results in us being available and that's what is important that we make ourselves available for whatever He wants to do. The gold and silver vessels, the ones that are for honorable uses are those that have made themselves available to be used as such. The Lord will use the ones that are available to be used.
