My dad is going to have surgery

If you remember my other posts about my dad, he is going to have the shunt put in. They finally decided it was the hydrocyphalus that was causing his problems.Hope this will help. I'm not really familiar with the shunt (its placed in the brain and drains the extra fluid) and its surgery, if its serious or not. But could you keep him in prayer that it will go well, that he will have a good recovery and that they have a safe trip (they have to travel 6 hours)? Me and grandma will go down wednesday night or thursday morning after I'm done working. But i hope wednesday night since I want to be there with him when he goes to surgery. Thank you.

Thanks for the prayers. He is having surgery tomorrow, he seems pretty positive about it, not nervous. Me and grandma will be heading down there early tomorrow morning with the flash flood warnings tonight. Will let you know the updates when I get to a computer which may be awhile since my aunt doesn't have internet.

Here's an update. He didnt have the surgery. His blood sugar was above 400 and they said they wouldn't do it till it was under control and that had to be under control and steady for awhile. Apparently my dad hasn't tested it for 6 weeks, his tester wasn't working properly and he didn't think to mention it to mom so they could go get a new one so she was unaware of this until then. My mom works 2 jobs over hte winter so she was busy since my dad can't work anymore. Now he has a new one (they bought one there), and the dr told him to have regular checkups, my mother told him to go in every week hoping it will keep him more accountable for his diabeties. He's one who will try to deny things and come up with all kinds of excuses. He told me once that he didn't need the surgery, that it may not help him get back what he has lost and that his hydrocyphalus will go away on its own. He doesnt want to deal with it he'd rather deny problems than face them. I understand its hard to accept it but he is getting very stubborn about it. Sometimes he's sure he doenst need it and there are times when he is like "ok, i will have to it it then" which I know is the hydrocyphalus affecting his reasoning. He's not thinking or seeing things straight anymore and very hard to reason with. But now he has been watching his blood sugar a little better. But its to keep him going with it all the time and to start watching what and how much he eats too.

My brother went with them down to the cities, so he's starting to see how bad dad has gotten with his condition. Which helps now. I dont' think he knew how bad it was before now. He knew dad wasn't well but didnt' know how serious it was. My mom isnt happy with my dad about this and they have to pay the hospital bill now due to the whole thing with his blood sugar was due to his neglect of taking care of himself and not health problems. Insurance won't cover it now. I applied for 2 weeks of vacation in july (we had planned on going camping) but with the bill and other things, it may not work so I'm hoping they can squeeze the sugery in there so I can go with them to the cities, help mom with the driving (my dad isn't allowed to drive anymore) and be there for them too. My brother didn't think he'd be able to make it down that time with his job. So prayers that he can watch his blood sugar and keep it under control and that they can do surgery and it will help some if not all (whatever God's will is in this). thank you for your prayers.
