I'm all up for the eternal "lifespan".

I believe the 70 years is a possibility, not a promise.

...and the 120 years...from Genesis? Not a promise, either, IMHO. YMMV (as may your lifespan!)

Genesis 6 says "his days be a hundred and twenty years". Moses did in fact live 120 years.

Psalms 90 says 70 or 80 years, which is the usual lifespan nowadays.
As for Me, this is My covenant with them," says the LORD: "My Spirit who is on you, and My words that I have put in your mouth, will not depart from your mouth, or from the mouth of your children, or from the mouth of your children's children, from now on and forever," says the LORD.

Our life expectancy? Who knows - literally. Some people die at 3 days old and some at 17, 31, 49, 78, 94, and beyond 100.

This is just my opinion, but I don't feel that David - in Psalm 90 - is asserting a concrete life span. To me, this passage is about how our lives are brief - no matter the span and that when we all die - it will be too short of a span. The Bible says that life is a vapor.
(James 4:14) It's true. I think he is also trying to focus the attention on pleasing God while we are alive.

"Your furious anger frightens and destroys us, and you know all of our sins, even those we do in secret. Your anger is a burden each day we live, then life ends like a sigh. We can expect seventy years, or maybe eighty, if we are healthy, but even our best years bring trouble and sorrow. Suddenly our time is up, and we disappear. No one knows the full power of your furious anger, but it is as great as the fear that we owe to you." Psalm 90:7-11

David also said that our lifespans were like a breath or a mere handbreadth and that our lifespans were nothing before God; a passing breeze that never returns; that we vanish like smoke.
    Psalm 39:5; 78:39; 102:3

    Also, to me the
Genesis 6:3 passage that states that God's spirit would not always fight with mankind that He (God) would give him (mankind) 120 years, also is not speaking of the lifespan of individual people, but the span of time for mankind as a whole between when God announced his plan to flood the earth and the actual Flood itself.

Everyone ponders over when they will die, but I felt convicted one day when reading what the Apostle Paul said about life and death in 2 Corinthians 5. Paul said that while we are here on this earth, we would rather be with the Lord, but since we live by faith and not by sight we know that one we will be absent from this body and present with the Lord. But until that time of our death - we are to be about pleasing God whether on this earth or in Heaven with Him after our deaths.

I just don't see any guarantees or promises of lifespans in the Bible.

    David lived to be seventy.

Jehoiada, a priest born five years after Solomon died, lived to be one hundred and thirty.

Both Joseph and Joshua lived to be one hundred and ten.

But we can live forever if we are in Christ.

We could die today or tomorrow. No promises for the flesh except corruption.

    James 4:13-15
Now listen, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money.” Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. Instead, you ought to say, “If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.”
    Psalm 19:14
May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart
    be pleasing in your sight,
O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer.

No telling. Seventy years on average may be about right. Abraham did live to be 175 years old. And this was after the flood.

And these are the days of the years of Abraham's life which he lived, an hundred threescore and fifteen years. (Genesis 25:7)

Coincidence. Gen 6 isn't a reference to the lifespan of Moses. I believe God stated that in 120 years the flood would come.

The typical lifespan has varied greatly through history and also is very varied depending on what area of the world and societal value one has.

God does not promise mankind any certain lifespan. We are born and some unknown time later we shall die. Some have lived very long lives, some very short.

I have understood this to mean that from when God made the statement in Gen 6:3, that the flood would come in 120 years, therefore his(sinful man) days were 120 years, not a statement on lifespan.

    Edit to add:

    Gen 7:6
And Noah was six hundred years old when the flood of waters was upon the earth.

    Gen 9:28-29
28And Noah lived after the flood three hundred and fifty years.
29And all the days of Noah were nine hundred and fifty years: and he died.
It seems he lived over 350 years after Gen 6:3
    Mark

“Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. 14 Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it." Matthew 7:13-14

He was talking about Moses not Noah.

    I say.

But as far as life span is concerned, I believe that since the flood our atmosphere has so changed that our lives are shorter because of it. The amount of water, oxygen, pressure, and the protection from harmful rays from the sun, all add up to shorter lives.

As far as the OP, I don't see any promise of length of life on earth. We are all promised eternal life, and the Scripture declares to us how we can be certain of with whom and where we spend it!
