I agree we get our word for pharmaceutical from the biblical word for familiar spirits or divination or something like that...maybe witchcraft. The point is that these practices were done through drug use because it opened them up to spirits. The more powerful the drug the more likely it is they are opened to possession is my thinking.

Yup, that's how "witch doctors" and those tribes involved with that sort of stuff do it, even today. It's an ancient practice, get stoned....get a message from "the great beyond".
