    Wounded as to Death

    Revelation 13:
    1. And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy.
    3. And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast.

    • For the whole world to wonder suggests a modern global event.
    • The wounded head as if to death mentioned in Isaiah 51:9, and Habakkuk 3:13.

    Isaiah 51
    9. Awake, awake, put on strength, O arm of the Lord; awake, as in the ancient days, in the generations of old. Art thou not it that hath cut Rahab, and wounded the dragon?
*This particular Rahab is just another reference to the dragon.

    Habakkuk 3
    13. Thou wentest forth for the salvation of thy people, even for salvation with thine anointed; thou woundedst the head out of the house of the wicked, by discovering the foundation unto the neck. Selah

    Also,
    Revelation 13:
    12. And he (False Prophet) exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed.
    14. And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live.

John wrote Revelation during the reign of the Roman Empire. A possible interpretation of the allegoric seven Kings (Empires) in regard to Israel that John writes of are:
    Revelation 17:
10 And there are seven kings: five are fallen (Egypt, Assyria, Babylon, Persia-Mede, Greece), and one is (Rome), and the other (Revised Roman Empire - Antichrist) is not yet come; and when he cometh, he must continue a short space (7 years).

Clearly, the other (Revised Roman Empire) is the head as it were wounded to death, for the Antichrist is the eighth that comes to assume complete power, followed shortly by the False Prophet.

    Revelation 13:
    11. And the beast that was, and is not, even he (Antichrist) is the eighth, and is of the seven, and goeth into perdition.

I was curious as to what kind of wound that was healed - that would be of such wonderment to the whole world. My initial thought was that it is a literal head wound of a major power player in the Revised Roman Empire, somewhat like the Arizona Congresswoman who survived a serious gunshot wound to the head - but that was no sword Revelation 13:14. However, it appears that the Revised Roman Empire suffers some sort of calamity (such as the sword of a Jihad War) that almost causes its complete economic collapse. A global Jihad would also create global economic calamities.

This sets the global stage for the appearance of the Antichrist, just as Hitler rose to power in post WWI Germany:
Daniel 11:21 And in his estate shall stand up a vile person, to whom they shall not give the honour of the kingdom: but he shall come in peaceably, and obtain the kingdom by flatteries.

Perhaps it is even by design of the Antichrist himself that initiates the Revised Roman Empire’s calamity and by craft orchestrates a false peace that is the wonderment spoken of in Revelation 13:3. Being a pre-tribulation believer I have my doubts that the church will witness this event:
    II Thessalonians 2:
    3. Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;
    4. Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.

At some point the Antichrist is revealed. From the Jewish perspective the Antichrist is clearly revealed at the midpoint of the tribulation when he presents himself as God in the Holy Temple. From the Christian perspective his appearance at the beginning of the tribulation is when he is revealed. As to what determines the beginning of the tribulation is anybody’s guess, but the stage is clearly set for end time events to be put into play.

As to the wounded as to death it is possible that an economic calamity such as a Jihad would be to the Revised Roman Empire as being wounded as to death by the sword in Revelation 13:14. A global socialistic economic system is possibly established as the quickest fix to a desperate situation. With the church out of the way a one-world religion such as Chrislam becomes the dominant global religious force with the False Prophet at its head.

What would be the wonderment of a false peace and the survival of the Revised Roman Empire? The devil is in the details of the false peace orchestrated by the Antichrist and that could mean anything. For instance, for the Jews and Christians alike a wonderment would be the appearance of a new Jewish Temple upon the Temple Mount as foretold in Daniel 9:27. Since Christian Jews and Gentiles are to be raptured before the Antichrist is revealed at the beginning of the seven-year tribulation, then we would not be here to witness that event.

There will surely be wonders to behold by non-believers and hypocrites alike during the tribulation period as foretold by Christ in the Gospels and inthe Book of Revelation, but you don’t want to be here to see them.

Why don't you let kings be actual people, instead of making them to be empires?

The beast is given the kingdom of the ten kings.

    a person -gets the kingdom

    7 kings
    five of them are dead/fallen

one is -Domitian - stole the temple tax
one is yet to come - Hadrian

Who was the first king of blasphemy?
Psalm 74 shows it was Nebuchadnezzar.

Daniel 9:26b “and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood,” This is the destruction of Jerusalem and of the Temple - just as Christ prophesied; Matthew 24:2, Mark 13:2, Luke 21:6, and the dispersion of the people by the Roman general and future Emperor Titus in 70 A.D.

Daniel 9:26c “and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.” The term desolations is interpreted as the eagles, the standards of the Roman army, which were an abomination to the Jews. These standards, rising over the site of the temple, were a sign that the holy place had fallen under the idolatrous Romans. 26c possibly has two meanings:
    • 70 A.D. was not unto the end of the war as far as Israel/Jerusalem and the desolations are concerned.
    • desolations are determined (fullness of the Gentiles) occur post - Rapture in the near future, Luke 21:24, Romans 11:25.

After 2,011 years Israel becomes once again an independent State (Ezekiel 37:21) on May 14, 1948, and gains control of Jerusalem in 1967 which must happen prior to fulfilling Daniel 9:27. The desolations determined is that point in time setting the stage for the 70th week.

Daniel 9:27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation (its destruction), and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

This is history repeating itself in our near future. Titus did not covenant, negotiate, or confirm anything except the destruction of Jerusalem by cause of a Jewish rebellion beginning in 66 A.D. Titus prevailed against the Jews – period, there was no Rapture, no Son of Man appearing in the clouds, no Kingdom established, no 1000 year reign of Christ, no everlasting dominion, no two witnesses nor satellites to see their dead bodies, no Prince of Princes…. Our understanding may not be God’s understanding, but these things and much more will happen because God does not lie.

There had to be another Israel (Ezekiel 37:21), another Jerusalem, another prince (antichrist), another form of the Roman Empire (E.U.? – Daniel 7:7-8, 23), a reason for a seven-year peace, and yes, at some point – probably after the Rapture - another Temple (Revelation 11:1-2) prior to the 3-½ year (42 month) midpoint of the Tribulation - where it also will be eventually destroyed. This time what has been determined shall be poured upon the (those who) desolate. Hallelujah!

Rev 13:1 And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy.
Rev 13:2 And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority.
Rev 13:3 And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast.

Historians date the fall of Rome as 476 AD, the deadly wound as administered by the Barbarians from without and moral rot and decay from within. The deadly wound was healed in 554 by Justinian, the emperor of the Eastern division. (Remember the twin capitols at Rom and Constantinople?) General Belisarius brought his army to Rome after conquering the Vandals and "liberated" Rome. They were looked upon as conquering heroes.

Dan 7:7 After this I saw in the night visions, and behold a fourth beast, dreadful and terrible, and strong exceedingly; and it had great iron teeth: it devoured and brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with the feet of it: and it was diverse from all the beasts that were before it; and it had ten horns.
Dan 7:8 I considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them another little horn, before whom there were three of the first horns plucked up by the roots: and, behold, in this horn were eyes like the eyes of man, and a mouth speaking great things.

The little horn is the RCC. The first three horns: Heruli, Ostrogoths and the Vandals. Fourth horn was Justinian in 554, fifth-Charlemagne 800AD, sixth-Otto the Great 962AD, seventh-Rudolf of the Hapsburg dynasty 1273AD, eighth-Napoleon 1804, ninth-Garibaldi united Italy in 1870-71 and Otto von Bismarck led Germany to defeat the French in the Franco-Prussian war, Mussolini made the famous Concordat with the Papacy (A concordat is an agreement made by the Papal See with a secular power, offering the protection of the church to political rulers who promise in return to defend the church and to guarantee the authority of her teaching over the people.) and Hitler rose to power in Germany. The tenth and final horn is now rising in Europe. Did you catch this little tidbit in the news a month ago...

SENIOR Eurocrats are working to create a super-powerful EU president.

A covert group of EU foreign ministers has drawn up plans for merging the jobs currently done by Herman Van Rompuy, president of the European Council, and Jose Manuel Barroso, president of the European Commission.

The new bureaucrat, who would not be directly elected by voters, is set to get sweeping control over the entire EU and force member countries into-greater political and economic union.

Tellingly, the UK has been excluded from the confidential discussions within the shady “Berlin Group” of Europhile politicians, spearheaded by German foreign minister Guido Westerwelle.

British politicians insist that this is a truly ridiculous idea that must never be allowed to happen

Opponents fear the plan could create a modern-day equivalent of the European emperor envisaged by Napoleon Bonaparte or a return to the Holy Roman Empire of Charlemagne that dominated Europe in the Dark Ages.

They are concerned that David Cameron’s coalition Government is doing nothing to prevent the sinister plot. The secret talks were uncovered by Independent Labour peer Lord Stoddart of Swindon.

“This is a plot by people who want to abolish nation states and create a United States of Europe,” he said.

Euro-MP Paul Nuttall, of the UK Independence Party, said: “This is a truly ridiculous idea that must never be allowed to happen. It sounds as if they are trying to go back to the days of the Holy Roman Emperor.”

At present, the two senior EU bureaucrats, Mr Barroso and Mr Van Rompuy, are locked in a bitter power struggle to determine who is the true big cheese or “grand fromage” in Europe. Former Portuguese premier Mr Barroso, who heads the EU’s executive arm and was elected to his post by members of the European Union, is understood to resent the rival fiefdom of Belgian Mr Van Rompuy, who was chosen by the heads of *government of EU member states to represent them.
What will shake out of the current economic crisis will eventually be ten leaders (not necessarily ten nations)...

Rev 17:7 And the angel said unto me, Wherefore didst thou marvel? I will tell thee the mystery of the woman, and of the beast that carrieth her, which hath the seven heads and ten horns.

Notice the woman rides on seven heads? The first three horns of Dan 7 were plucked up by the roots by the "little horn"

Dan 7:8 I considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them another little horn, before whom there were three of the first horns plucked up by the roots: and, behold, in this horn were eyes like the eyes of man, and a mouth speaking great things.

Rev 13:11 And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon.
Rev 13:12 And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed.
Rev 13:13 And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men,
Rev 13:14 And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live.

Notice this beast, the little horn, causes people to worship the first beast? He appears as a lamb (now Whom might that be?) but speaks as the dragon...

Rev 12:9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

Rev 17:8 The beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is.
Rev 17:9 And here is the mind which hath wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains, on which the woman sitteth.

The woman (a great false church) did not sit on the first three horns of Daniel (the Barbaric Heruli, Ostrogoths and Vandals).

Rev 17:10 And there are seven kings: five are fallen, and one is, and the other is not yet come; and when he cometh, he must continue a short space.

And at about the time God began to open this understanding...

Dan 12:4 But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.

Transportation and knowledge began to really increase beginning in the late 19th and early 20th century. The time of Garibaldi, Bismarck, Mussolini and Hitler.

My take, you can do with it as you wish.

    Re: Wounded as to Death

I believe the false prophet is the wounded head of the first beast.

The fact that he has had a deadly head wound that was healed is how we will recognize him.

His motto will be, generally, that none should defend himself with a deadly weapon.

    The opposite of Jesus' Words:

REV 13:9 If any man have an ear, let him hear:
REV 13:10 He that leadeth into captivity shall go into captivity: he that killeth with the sword must be killed with the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints.
GAL 4:25 For this Agar is mount Sinai in Arabia, and answereth to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children.

MT 24:43 But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up.

As opposed to the bad man that does nothing?

    AMOS 6:3 Ye that put far away the evil day, and cause the seat of violence to come near;
