So, if the guy is being ILLEGALLY harassed, why doesn't he file charges?

I'm sure he wouldn't have a problem finding a lawyer. Maybe even a high profile lawyer looking to build his resume, willing to represent him pro bono, being a high profile case.

If the group doing the harassing is following their constitutional rights of protest, I'd say suck it up.

I did. Three times. I cannot find out what exactly the man is complaining about. He gives no examples of harassment he just says he is harassed. I could claim the same thing. It has no legs without context and examples.

While the media look the other way, the ex-gay community is being harassed and publicly denounced by unforgiving gay activists because of our unpopular sexual orientation.

That doesn't sound at all like harassment to you?
Frankly - no. He sounds like a whiner. What's the media supposed to do? Create a story around this guy? Why would they do that? What exactly has he "suffered"?

It sounds to me like the man is complaining not only of bullying and harassment by the homosexual advocacy groups, but also of them flexing their political muscle to hurt ex-gays. Maybe we have a different perspective of what he's saying, but it seems clear to me that the LGBT community has an axe to grind with those who choose to leave the homosexual lifestyle.
Yep. You hit the nail on the head there. It "sounds to you like".

How are gay people "flexing their political muscle" to hurt ex-gays. Please explain that. Please.

I don't know that this qualifies as direct "harassment" against the author of the article, but it at least exposes the hypocrisy of many pro-homosexual organizations. This is directly from the article..."The Human Rights Campaign demands same-sex marriage for gays while fighting ex-gay equality. One of their latest victories is to successfully bully the World Bank into denying funds to ex-gay charities while allowing gay organizations to participate."

No. It doesn't qualify as harassment. It might qualify as discrimination but not harassment.

And what does that have to do with the "rights" being denied? the Word Bank works mostly in under developed nations. I would like to see something, some program, that the World Bank supports gay organizations. If the author of that article is talking about AIDS education or treatment and using that as his "supports gay organizations" - then shame on him.

Honestly, I don't know what harassment the author is talking about. Maybe he's getting harassing phone calls or e-mails from homosexuals?

Considering he is: "president of Parents and Friends of Ex-Gays & Gays and executive director of Equality and Justice For All." you'd think that would be somewhat expected?

And why didn't he just SAY that? We're left with nothing except his accusation.

    Re: Ex-gays being harassed

Look, I don't personally know the man, so I don't know the specifics of the harassment and bullying tactics he is referring to. But I've seen enough of those types of tactics by gay advocacy organizations to believe he is being truthful and factual. Target got targeted a year or so ago, for simply supporting a political candidate who did not support gay rights, and the corporation finally caved in from the bad publicity. CBS also apologized profusely a few years ago for not including enough gay characters in their entertainment programming. If Christians--or pretty much any other group--made such a request, they would completely ignored.

Everybody caters and panders to the gay community--or else. If you're unaware of, or in denial of their political clout and aggressive activities, no amount of evidence will convince you.

Did I say they did not have "clout"? Did I say they did not target Target (that sounds kinda cool)?

No. All I said was there are NO specifics mentioned. Specifics would lend a whole lot more credence to his accusation than just saying, "Poor me. I've been harassed. My rights are being denied".

This isn't about me being in denial no matter how you wring it and swing it - this is about the article the man wrote with NO backup.

But, as always, I'll bow to you having the final word. So the floor is yours. I only ask that you do not twist what I have just said into something I have/had no intention of saying. Thank you.

Ya know, I don't often come to V's defense, as I disagree with her quite a bit, but she does have a point here. If the author of the article mentioned some specifics, not necessarily naming names, and indicated he was receiving harassing phone calls, e-mails, people approaching him on the street, whatever, then it could give him a little more credibility.

The original OP linked article is a bit dated now (July 2011), but I just left a comment on the blog asking about it. Probably unlikely to get an answer at this point, but you never know.
