    Bondage 2 Freedom

I used 2 introduce myself as an heroin/crack addict in recovery but i had it all wrong and believe me im not in denail here but no longer will i again refer 2 myself as an addict, because the Word of God said if He freed me i am free indeed. I dont want 2 count clean days anymore but rather want 2 make each day count. So let me refrase of who i really am. My name is Linda, Gods blood washed beloved daughter. Forgiven, redeemed & set free! Maybe i need 2 deal with some consequenses still but im no addict. Just some1 with a past which are erased by the blood of Jesus!

Linda, I've found that addiction occurs when their is no change of heart and mind. Once we are focused on God's will and not our own concerns, we can break the chains of addiction.

    Re: Bondage 2 Freedom

Once an addict - always an addict

This negative phrase, I believe is one of the favorite lies that let us believe we will never overcome addiction. As Christians we are not condemed to live under the constant fear or danger of slipping into addiction against our own will.

Believing this phrase as true, is a definite denial of God's power to change the addict and empower us to live a victorious life.

What we can keep in mind is that we will have to deal with the consequences of that old lifestyle, but being an addict for the rest of our lives is not the freedom Jesus intended us to have. He came once, and paid the price, there is no need for the price to be paid for a second time around.

To be able to walk away from the old lifestyle is a process, but just as much a process as becoming a Christian, everything doesn't happen instantly, we learn as we go along and walk further away from the past we get godly wisdom if we ask for it in prayer. God did deliver us and a lifestyle change is possible if we accept it. Like any other sin, we are to walk away and sin no more.
